"Is that all then?" Shiera inquired, teasing slightly. "You have no even asked your boon yet." Nyles smiled with the youthful certainty that leads many young men to their doom. "i wouldn't want to waste more of your time," he said. "This particular problem is beneath your notice."

"You are a peculiar one, Nyles Blackfort," Shiera replied, shaking her had and returning her attention to her book.

Later Richard seeks out the Mistress of Whisperers, as the King had advised. He was wary, but his king likely had other reasons for him to do so. Sometimes being a pawn wasn't that bad. Hopefully.

He was allowed entry, Shiera sighing and setting down her book once more.
"You are the second Blackfort to visit me today," she remarked, more amused than annoyed. "I know we are all family through marriage now, but that hardly requires me to have an open door policy."

"I expect no favors, my lady" Richard says in a apologetic tone "If I inconvenience you at all, I will be on my way. Though... second? Who was here before?" Had Alice already been here? Nyles surely wouldn't, that would not make sense at all.

"Your nephew, the less strapping one," she replied, motioning for the white knight to sit. "Not quite right, that one, is he?"

"A broken kingdom does that to the young" says Richard simply. "Shall I go, my lady? I would not impinge."

"Am I an old spinster then, Ser?" she asked with a pointed stare and wry smile.

"Of course not my lady, but you are surely a... busy women. The king advised me to take your counsel, but if you have other matters that concern you more I will not object. I am but a knight concerned with the city, not a... Lord Paramount or King"

"Nonsense, you are a member of the Kingsguard, here on the king's advice and dashing knights are so much more preferable company to gangly squires" she replied, actually turning towards fully him now rather than just her head, looking him up and down in his shining white plate. "How can I be of service?"

Richard smiled lightly at her praise, but he was graying and "dashing" wasn't the first thing to come to mind when anyone looked at him. "You are too kind. My nephew has brought to my attention certain elements within the city actively fomenting support for the reds and opposing the king. I merely sought to be diligent and see that some of them could be brought in. As Mistress of Whisperers, surely you are most aware of where it would be most profitable to point me? I am not a city man, but I fear I have always been more inclined to a active defense than passive."

(Taking over for Zack)
"And diligence is to be commended. Also, I would be loath to annoy my brother so soon after giving me such a pretty title." She leaned back in her chair and steepled her fingers before her distinct bosom, studying Richard with her mismatched blue and green eyes.
"The name you have heard is Benjy Blue Eyes, and you will hear he is some sort of merchant. In truth, Benjy Blue Eyes doesn't exist except as a signature on the deeds of several businesses. The man you likely saw in that crowd before the Great Sept has probably not lived in this city more than a year. Most likely, he is an agent of House Lannister or Arryn, but he may also have been planted by Maekar Targaryen himself before abandoning the city to us. I could tell you more about our guest's operation, but I should like to be..." She leaned forward with a hungry look in those strange eyes. "...coaxed?"

This kind of bullshit was the main reason he had been anxious about the position. Swords, assassins, and death threats he could deal with. It was the noblewoman who he never knew how to handle. Their weapons were very different, but just as deadly as his own. "My lady" he said carefully "I am sorry, but I am just trying to do my duty here. I fear I am no man of persuasion, but I would be endebted for any more help you could give. I just desire to keep your family safe." Persuasion 51

(Success) Shiera laughed at his earnestness, covering her mouth. "I'm sorry... I don't mean to offend... I am used to dealing with a very different sort of man." She managed to catch her breath and smiled. "You will either die before any of your brothers, or outlive them. I look forward to seeing which. Now..."
Shiera collected a pen and scribbled something on a piece of paper. Then she stood, approached the knight until he could smell her perfume, and pressed a crumbled paper into his hand. "That's a list of the septons known for stirring discontent in the streets. I had that list compared with the records of the Most Devout, and do you know what I learned, Ser Richard?" She stood on her tiptoes to whisper softly in his ear.
"These men are charlatans. Follow the liars and they'll lead you to the truth." She lowered back on her heels. "I would ask you not to let Nyles bring Lord Reyne into this matter. Your nephew's new patron talks like a knight, but thinks like a slave merchant."

I will keep your words close to my heart, and I will instruct Nyles as such. Septons though, that is interesting. They seek to bastardize the Faith into a weapon against the current reign, capitalizing on the mistake of a white cloak" said Richard absentmindedly, then shut up immediately on realizing his lapse.
