The wooden door, which wasn't that large by the way, was opened a minute later.
Dacey had been up, but had clearly not expected anyone to pound on her door this early in the morning. She was mostly dressed, though a few articles short of her usual attire. "Yes?" she asked blankly.

Percival bowed his head to her. "I had just realized that you were sharing this here tower with me. You have been a rather silent neighbor. I thought you would like to take a morning constitutional. I walk the walls every morning at dawn. And since I saw your room on the way." He smirked with his normal bit of arrogance.

"I like silence," she said, assuming that what he'd just proposed was a walk. She considered it for a moment, then nodded. "Why not," she said, and returned to her room to get her things, re-appearing a minute later with her cloak and swords.
"The southern side has a good view of the lake," she offered, unsure which walls he'd meant.

"Indeed." Percival replied and turning he walked in that direction. He walked a steady pace, and waited for her to catch up before saying anything else. "I hope you do not mind my birds. I know they can cause quite a ruckus. And I remember you not getting on so well with black winged creatures."

Dacey caught up with him easily. "Not at all," she replied. "I don't even hear them unless I open a window. Like I said in the woods... I never had any problems with them before," she said, though she'd never liked birds. "They're different in these parts."
She glanced at his face to see if it was healing well. "How are you doing?" she asked.

"Are you referring to the time your brother struck me, or the time when he had me confined to prison cell for now reason?" Percival asked as they began to descend the stairs of the tower. He gave her a small smirk. The wound was healing well, but there would definitely be some kind of mark for the rest of Percival's life.

"Wasn't that the same time?" Dacey asked in return, giving him a small smile that faded soon after. It had been idiotic of Belric to alienate the man tasked with helping their family so she was certainly not going to come up with any excuses for him. "Are you two on better terms now?" she asked.

"He has not struck me or chained me to the wall in days now. And i can only hope our relationship remains at that level for a good long time." Percival walked outside into the cold air. "And how are you finding the keep?"

From that, Dacey assumed they'd settled their differences. "It's falling apart," she said, taking a deep breath of fresh air. "I think we're either going to save this place or run it to the ground." She didn't have a lot of faith in middle ground. "What of you?" she inquired, wondering how vastly different Casterly Rocky must've been compared to Harrenhal.

"Me? Oh... I absolutely love this old beast, curse and all." Percival replied looking around. "It has a character all to itself. It is unique, and tough. You have to be tough to survive such a beating. I have begun to write a book on this place. And look into this curse." Percival ran his fingers along a wall lightly and then turned toward the furthest wall.

"It certainly does," she said, agreeing about the castle having character. She'd not shared her feelings on the castle, because she wasn't sure yet whether she wanted to burn it down or see it become the capital of Riverlands.
"So you're certain there is a curse," she said, looking to him. "What do you have on it so far?"

"I am far from certain. I am merely hoping. It would be fascinating if there was a dire curse. The story of this place is so tragic that it would seem fitting." Percival replied and then sighed and added, "Though the story of this place would make any think there must be a curse when it could just be bad luck and weakness."

Harrenhal's story was indeed just piles of tragedy, she thought. "This... curse. The folk say it was cast by Harren the Black, do they not?" she asked. The concept of Ironborn dabbling in magic seemed ridiculous to her. It would be almost as ridiculous as being chased by a giant magical booger. "What do you know about him?"

"I know what most people know. He was the last king of his kind. If you look at what he tried to build you can get a good sense of him. It is interesting that a reaver spent so much to try and builds this keep. Seems out of character. No doubt he would have been murdered by one of his own men if not burnt to death by a dragon." Percival seemed lost in thought as he spoke thinking of all he had read. "Though I doubt Harren cast the magick that caused this. His death may have triggered the curse. And it is possible that he is summoned the curse. Yet I do not think it was intentional. The Dragons are creatures of magic and when they bring fire and death odd things happen." He paused and then looked at Dacey and asked. "How well do you know the legends of Varlyrian?"

/////////////////////////////
9th day of the 3rd Moon
Hoster stood by Lady Dacey's door, stiff as a glorified sentinel. He had just relieved one of his men from the post, taking his place. It was his first appearance out of the enclosure he called a room; the last time the Captain of the Guards had left his chambers had been six days before, he had watched the training recruits in a cold morning. A very foolish idea, considering his debilitated health; Hoster had been struck with a strong fever which had sent him back to bed for the following week.
During this period, the pain from his not yet fully healed wounds had been multiplied by hundreds; he sweated like a pig and dreamed of the terrors of oblivion. The faces of Donnel and his other bonny boys had haunted him day and night without rest. After five delirious nights, the fever had started to douse and Hosters began to clear. All this had led him to a conclusion, something would have to change; he had to let his past go.
"Good mornin', m'lady." Hoster hammered his fist against the door. He had come to conclude this whole affair had been some trial, he felt so much lighter now, relieved it could be said.
