Harlan turned to Pete, the mans words obviously hitting a note in the spot where Harlan’s heart once lived. He was never much of a sentimental man, but he liked the idea of it; even if it was beyond his moral aptitude. “I have a mind to run as far away from this place as I can.” He replied frankly. “I’ll stab a man in the back if I have too, but I’m not one to go looking for a fair fight, Pete. My gut tells me going back there is a mistake.” He put a hand on the mans shoulder, faking sentimentality with a mummers talent. “If it was you hanging in that tree, do you think Longinch would risk going back to cut you down?” The truth hit him like a cavalry charge, Longinch wouldn't have wasted a single moment to care for his dead body, not even to burn it as Pete had several times requested. He was angry at that, but he knew that was just the way of things. Longinch wasn't his friend, as neither was Harlan, they were at most brothers in arms. The man was gone now, no use going down like him. "Fucking hells, Harlan. Why do ye always 'ave to be right?" He spat. Then mused. "I need to burn something. It will help me forget this shit."

"Yes," said Vex, and handed her the key.
She turned away from her and Tim and walked over to the others. "I suggest you start packing, boys. We shouldn't stay here," she said, and moved on to gather whatever few belongings she'd kept at the mill, maybe some wine if she came across it.

Within was a bed for two people, a small table with two chairs and three half-empty wine bottles by the window, a motheaten deerskin rug, and what appeared to be an old wooden traveling chest. The chest's exquisite carpentry and engraving of the letter I suggested that Longinch had brought it here from his ancestral home. It didn't appear to be locked.

Barley was cautious b6 nature, and knew a man with a brand new door lock would not lock a chest and so looked around for any kind of booby traps.

(+2 Observation)
She finds no booby traps, Inchfield apparently having relied on the lock and his own temper to secure his valuables. Barley's keen eyes do notice a loose floorboard in the corner of the room, under which she discovers Ser Lucas's emergency purse, which contains three dozen coppers, five silver stags, and a single golden dragon.

She tries to discreetly pocked the purse without her cohorts noticing, because there is no honour between thieves.
Slight of hand 35
If it worked or not she headed to open the chest.

Barley Sleight of Hand: 51 Vex Observation: 46 Tim Observation: 52
Vex doesn't notice Barley furtively pocket the coinpurse, but Tim does.
Inside the chest were various letters and journals. As Barley can't read, this is the extent of what she can discern.

“There’s plenty to burn,” said Harlan with encouragement. “This old Millhouse for example. Probably best to burn it to the ground once we leave. If nothing else, it can be our fair well to the boss.”
Harlan took notice when the women entered the room, peeking up at the mention of a key. He looked on with excitement as they opened the peculiar lock on Longinch’s door, filing in with the rest of the group.
Without an invitation, Harlan grabs one of the wine skins. He pulls the stop, putting his nose to the opening. With a practiced effort, he inhales, attempting to gauge the vintage and quality of the wine.

Not bothered by wine, Barley leaves the room, removing the silvers from the purse and trying to hide them elsewhere on her person, when she was out of sight.

It's cheap wine, Longinch clearly having preferred quantity over quality. It's also bordering on the sour side. As he drinks he notices the open chest Barley had left full of various missives and journals.

Harlan winces at the wine, but takes another long sip. “Longinch always did have shit taste in wine.” He offers the skin to anyone else who may have wanted some before turning his attention on the chest and it’s documents.

"Ohohoho...Will do, Boss!" As sudden as a stroke, Pete's mood changed. The moping fella who stood there a couple heartbeats ago vanished as soon as the message burn the mill was transmitted. His mind was so set on his objective that he didn't event realize what he had just called Harlan.
"Fiyaaah!" He giggled maniacly, eyes widening. All the world was gone now, there was but one thought in his head. He started making the preparations to set the mill ablaze.

A few of the journals and letters were written in the sophisticated writing of a learned man. One journal, titled 'An Historye of House Inchfield', contained many peculiar charts and anecdotes that were meaningless to any of the commoners. Another contains, in far less lavish script, a list of the various bounties to be had for each member of the gang. There is also a list of fences or 'ferrymen' in the Riverlands whom might be easily contacted, along with their going rates. Last, there is a sealed letter, which contains intelligence on three potentially lucrative job oppurtunities, which Harlan surmises Longinch had paid the local Ferryman for.
(I have to run to dinner. Astro can list the job tips when/if you open the letter.)

However, he does pocket the letter, bounty list, and the information about Longinch’s contacts. He did not bother to open the letter, for fear of wasting too much time. “Time to go,” he said with a cheeky grin. “I may have told Pete to burn the mill down, we best not dally.”
