Percival stepped back and his eyes opened slightly, but that did not truly show how surprised he was. He stepped back into the woods, and cried out. "Run, you should run." Yet he did not run. He was transfixed with this unnatural behavior. He wondered if Harrenhal was trying to expel the Blackforts like a disease.

Without having to think about it, Dacey scrambled to her feet as the dark cloud started descending on her, and began sprinting towards the edge of the godswood, keeping an eye out of potential cover as she doubted the crows would just disappear once she made it out of the woods.

(Dacey: +2 Agility, +2 Observation)
It was ten acres from the heart tree to the edge of the Godswood and Dacey cleared half of that in a flash, adrenaline and a desire not to end up like Tippi Hedren causing her to leave the poor gaping maester in the dust, as she leapt a small stream and ran like the Lord of the Seven Hells himself were on her tail. Even in her terror, her keen eyes managed to spot a large hollowed out oak, which she dove into just as she swore she could feel the tickle of black feathers against the back of her neck. As she turned to the side in the tight confines, they clawed and pecked, trying to work their way in and tear her to shreds to no avail. Abandoning the pursuit, the frenzied flock turned its attention to Percival, having apparently developed a taste for Maester.

The moment Dacey had vanished from sight Percival had turn and ran into the woods. When he heard the flapping of dark wings getting closer he reached into the bag containing his supplies from the trip and his hand wrapped around a dry hunk of bread. He tore a chunk off the bread and threw the crumbs to the left. Then he repeated the process but threw crumbs to the right. He repeated the process with the bit of dried fruit and meat until his pack was empty or he reached the keep. If Percival ever saw Dacey in her hiding place on his way out he would totally son a bit of crumbs right at her.
Percival cursed as he ran. He had known this family was going to be the death of him. He grew frustrated at how hard it was to stay alive and complain at the same time.

Dacey let out a short laugh as she rested her forehead against the bark to catch her breath. The gods were mad. She was sure of it now.
Her relief was fleeting, however, as she realized why the birds had given up on her that fast. The maester.
She slipped out of her cover and reached for her bow, quickly notching an arrow. The Fat Crow in particular had risen quite high on her shitlist, so she aimed for that one.

(Percival: +3 to Animal Handling. Thanks for ruining my Hitchcock moment with you both rolling 90+s for your escapes.)
The angry birds ignore the bread and fruit, but a large portion break off for the strips of meat. Of the few dozen that remain, they break off as well once Dacey picks a few out of the sky with some well placed arrows. The flock returns to their perch on the weirwood.

Percival ran all the way into the keep and then stopped short. He started fixing his robe, waiting for Dacey. His cheeks were red with exertion and anger. Once every line of his robe was in place he straightened his chain.
When Dacey reached him he frowned at her. "What did you do to provoke that? I thought you were suppose to be a skilled hunter?"

Without wasting any time, Dacey retrieved her arrows before following the maester out of the Godswood.
"Nothing," she replied, clearly at a loss for words. She glanced at the looming heart tree. "I did nothing."
She looked at Percival, having forgotten about the cut on her cheek. "I've never seen anything like this."

Percival stepped forward when he saw her wound. His hands moved to her face to examine the wound. He moved his face very close to hers as he spoke. "You let one wound you. Do not move." He cleaned it with a bit of bandage he always carried. "This is not natural. Crows do not act like that." He closed his mouth and his jaw tensed. "I am beginning to think this place is cursed." Percival was surprised he even said such words after they had passed his lips. He was annoyed at himself so he took that out on Dacey. "Stop wiggling this can't hurt that much."

Percival manages to disinfect the slashes and pecks. She would not get any of the no doubt countless diseases such creatures carried.

Dacey, who'd been perfectly still the entire time, blinked at getting berated for moving. She studied the maester in silence as he worked.
"Thank you," she said after he'd finished, "I think I've heard one or two people mention a curse." A corner of her mouth was twitching slightly.

Percival methodically cleaned her wound while his mind turned to other matters. He stared into her eyes but really was looking into the past. "It is to early to the claim their is a curse yet. I am going to have to study the keep. I will begin to study this keep this evening. There is a power to this place. I can feel it. Casterly Rock has the same feel." Percival trailed off and remembered that he was telling to a filthy commoner who probably could not find Casterly Rock on a map of Casterly Rock. He stepped back and smirked slight. "If you notice anything out of order happen, please come and inform me. I will want to hear of any odd goings-on."

Dacey hadn't even known Percival was from the west.
"Both of these places have a real heart tree," she said, as if this explained the power. The first and only book she'd ever read had been about the old gods. She knew which castles below the Neck had a weirwood tree, even if she didn't properly remember the names of some of their houses. Her father Bruce had attempted to pique her interest in learning to read by borrowing Lord Roote's only tome on the subject, and it had worked. To an extent, anyway.
"I will let you know. What was your request?" she asked.

Percival shook his head dismissively. He turned and stared back into the God's wood. "I have been plenty of places with a heart tree that seemed to have no power. And the Citadel beats like a heart itself, because of how powerful it feels. The Red Keep has a heart tree but it does not have this feel." He decided to write down all this thoughts when he returned to his room and turned back to her. "You are not going to appreciate my request but it must be accomplished for the good of the house."

"A real heart tree," she repeated. "A weirwood tree." The godswood of King's Landing had been a garden and a disappointment. Dacey couldn't obviously vouch for the Citadel.
"What is it?" she asked again. She didn't like beating around the bush.
