Benjen shrugged, "Then I'll drink, maybe tell you a story or two. See how many holes you can shoot in it. No business, just a social visit." Okay, maybe he wanted to ask him to join the bandit hunting party, but he also kind of wanted to spend a little more time with her in an informal setting. She called him out on his bullshit before, and he loved it.

"Tempting," she said, her tone and expression strongly suggesting otherwise. Putting up with loud drunks wasn't exactly her idea of a good time, but she figured a change of atmosphere could be a good thing. Besides, she'd been meaning to get more acquainted with Harrentown. "Fine. The.. 'Lonely Ghost', you said?"

Benjen picked up on the note of sarcasm in her voice and nodded slowly, "Yes, the Lonely Ghost. If you are otherwise inclined, we could still meander in a vaguely elseward direction, trading a story or two. The point isn't the drinking, Lady Blackfort," he said, taking a much more formal title with her (one that may very well stand to be incorrect, he could never keep up with these lordly houses and their various bumfuckeries), "I would like to know you better, and I believe that more social interactions would benefit that before we leapt into the jaws of death hunting down dangerous bandits."

"I already agreed to go," she replied, suppressing a smile at his flood of nonsense, though a corner of her mouth might've twitched once or twice. "No need to oversell it. I'll meet you at the gates at sundown. And call me Dacey," she said before turning to leave.

"Dacey," he said, a sense of reverence to the name as it passed his lips. Gods be damned, she was one hell of a woman. After she left, Benjen said one final prayer for good fortune before he left. Whether it was good fortune with women or good fortune with hunting, he didn't mind.

//////////////
2nd day of the 5th moon, evening
Once the riverlords' arrival had come to an end, Dacey made her way towards the heart tree, navigating the dark woods with relative ease.
Having made sure the area around the clearing was empty, she approached the pale tree and pushed back the hood of her cloak to keep her ears pricked for any unwanted company, unlikely as it was at this hour. For a good while, she stood studying the grimace etched in the bark, its twisted mouth even more unsettling in the dim moonlight.
"What you showed me before..." she said quietly, and trailed off, perhaps contemplating whether or not she actually needed to voice her thoughts. She thought back to her father struggling in the mud, and Smallwood's arrogance in the Great Hall. "I need to know it's true," she said, pulling a small knife out of her pocket and weighing it in her left hand. Without hesitating, she cut into the thumb of her right hand and brought it up to the heart tree, painting its mouth red with her blood. "Show me again," she asked.

(Observation roll failed)
Even on the alert, she did not hear the man behind her until he cleared his throat. There were Faceless Men that were less furtive.

Dacey flinched a little, accidentally drawing a red smudge down the contour in the process, before she could properly remove her hand from the tree. Keeping her knife low and mostly hidden by the folds of her black cloak, she turned around.

It was Lord Seth Blackwood, though his black clothing and hair left him hard to discern in the dim moonlight, save for his breath visible on the chill winter air. His sharp eyes, marksman's eyes, flitted from the almost concealed knife to the blood dripping from Dacey's thumb, to the crimson smear on the weirwood.
"I am clearly interrupting...something," he said, turning to leave, taking two steps, before seeming to think better of it and turning back around. "Though if you'll pardon the eavesdropping, it seems rather impolite to receive a boon from the Old Gods and then ask for another. From my experience, the Gods aren't terribly fond of having to repeat themselves. Then again, who is?"

Dacey slid her right hand into her pocket, pressing the cut on her thumb against a piece of cloth she'd brought along. She glanced once more to the tree, thinking about Blackwood's words as if the thought hadn't occurred to her. "In your experience?" she inquired, turning back to him. Any other setting would have likely required formal acknowledgement and pleasantries, but the woods and the current situation seemed to relieve one of the need.

"Did you think the Blackforts the only family below the neck that worship the Old Gods?" he inquired, not really answering the question, letting her draw what conclusions from it that she wished. "You're the one that carries Brynden's bow?" he asked, though it was more neutral statement of fact, as he crossed his arms and leaned back against one of the trees in the copse.

"Of course not," Dacey replied. "But I've never heard of anyone being granted boons, either. Apart from your brother, that is."
She returned knife to her pocket, and after a short moment of hesitation, moved away from the heart tree and joined him in the treeline, though kept her distance. "That's me," she said. "It's a good bow."

"The maesters may not admit it, but green dreams have a long and storied history among the faithful," he replied, matter of factly. "Though it was always unsettling with Brandon and I shared the same dream."
"You didn't earn it," he said, once again more neutral statement of fact than accusation. "You don't know what it meant to those who did."

The brief and blasphemous thought of the Gods being lazy, sending the same dream to both brothers, crossed Dacey's mind.
"Who's to say I didn't?" she asked, tilting her head a little to get a better look at him.

"That'd be me," he replied simply, meeting her gaze. "Considering Brynden and I came up with the prerequisites for earning one, I'd say you're speaking to one of the few people qualified to say so."
