"Our family Willem. Such as it is." replied Edmure smiling. "Still you have that choice to leave, if you wished. And you even have the advantage of an offer of service elsewhere with our 'friend' Lord Smallwood., although I wouldn't be telling my brother that." He shrugged his shoulders again. "I could remain in my brother's service, but whether we could put this behind us remains to be seen. I have not seen him since our quarrel. I even left him a letter resigning the Castellanship, because I could not trust myself to not say certiain things to him face to face. Certain things that would make it impossible for us to reconcile in the future. He is still my brother - the only true born brother I have, now that Nyles is dead." "I already left Lord Smallwood's service." Willem replied. "I fear that bridge may be burnt. Especially now that we have killed his champion. Why leave outright? Lord Belric may not value you as a Castellan, but I am sure there are other duties you could undertake in his lands? Why not ask his leave to take a party to hunt bandits. You will have command again, and you will not have to speak with him about your quarrel for you will be gone from Harrenhal."

Edmure thought for a moment before nodding. "You may be right, Willem. I should speak to him. He is still my brother and I owe him at least that. At least we will both know where the other stands."

"I can take those horses back if you wish. " Willem said, not knowing what else to add.

"Aye, do that." said Edmure, with a slight smile, clapping his cousin on the shoulder. "At least for the moment."

Willem took the reins of the horses from Edmure and led them back into the stable.

3rd moon 19th day
Armored as if he was off to war and carrying every item of warm clothing he had been able to find in what was left of his chambers, Edmure with a couple of guards in tow arrived at the stables, about an hour after speaking with Violet.

Violet arrived with her saddlebag. She had packed lightly, but had stopped at the kitchens on the way, to get some bread and cheese. She smiled nervously at Edmure when she saw him and called to one of the stableboys.
"Come and saddle Beauty for me." She turned to Edmure, mindful of the servants nearby. "The ride will do us good. I could use some fresh air to clear my head."

Edmure climbed onto his own horse, which he had already saddled himself.
"Indeed. The cold winter air is good for the mind and body." he replied casually, not really knowing if it was or wasn't. "I would make sure that your head-covering is secure and covers all your hair. Otherwise it will get wet."

"Of course." She put on her cloak and pulled the hood up over her hair, tucking the loose strands inside. She had already had the forethought to tie her hair in a tail behind her head.
"It should be a pleasant ride, and we'll have time to talk, and think."
She waited a little bit impatiently for the stableboy to saddle her horse.

Edmure nodded in approval. It wouldn't do for one of their family to be looking out of a window from high up and wonder where Violet was going. Edmure was sure most wouldn't care where he went. His own guards were unlikely to question their Lord's sister, even if they knew that Edmure was his way to the wall. Hopefully they would assume she was rising a short way with him before returning to Harrenhal.
Edmure waited on his horse, until Violet was ready. His guards didn't seem to be saying much.

Soon ehough, Violet's horse was ready. She gave Edmure a smile before allowing the stableboy to attach her bags to the saddle and help her mount.
"Let's go," she said, feigning merriment for the sake of the servants and guards.

Edmure looked around somewhat disdainfully at the guards. "I'm ready. The Wall awaits."
He pulled on the reins and steered his horse through the stable door and set off towards the gate.
