The aim of the social skills in this game system is to compel your opponent to say, reveal, do, or act as you want. Whether you're trying to change a person's mind, pass yourself off as someone or something else, make them like you more, or even just get them into bed, the process is generally the same. The difficulty of the action determines the difficulty of the roll. For example, it is much easier to persuade someone to lend you a few coppers than it is to persuade them to commit treason and the difficulty of the roll will reflect this. In the same way, it is likely much easier to convince a trusted friend to betray their liege than it would be to convince a complete stranger. As such, we have adapted the disposition system from Green Ronin for this game.
There are 9 disposition levels; 4 favorabe, 4 unfavorable, and one neutral, Your House Influence determines an individual NPC's starting disposition to a PC, as the house reputation often has longer legs than personal reputation. Once you interact with a PC personally, they will develop their own opinion of you, and therefore as the game progresses there could be NPCs that hate certain individuals in your family and adore others. The disposition levels and their effects are as follows:
Love (+25 to Social Roll Attempts)
Admire (+20 to Social Roll Attempts)
Respect (+15 to Social Roll Attempts)
Friendly (+10 to Social Roll Attempts)
Like (+5 to Social Roll Attempts)
Indifferent (+0 to Social Roll Attempts)
Dislike (-5 to Social Roll Attempts)
Unfriendly (-10 to Social Roll Attempts)
Disrespect (-15 to Social Roll Attempts
Detest (-20 to Social Roll Attempts)
Hate (-25 to Social Roll Attempts)
We reserve to the right to add new (likely lower) disposition levels if you REALLY fuck up.
Seduction-Used to Raise Disposition and Convince those with attraction to player's gender once it is at Friendy or above
Persuasion-The use of logic to turn someone around to your way of thinking. Also used for negotiation, diplomacy, and bartering
Charm-Used to Raise Disposition almost exclusively, but may be used to curry favors once it is at Respect or above.
Intimidation-Used to force your way, often through threats. This ignores disposition, treating it as Indifferent, but will likely cause disposition penalties afterward. No one likes a bully.
Taunt/Incite-Used to lower a target's Disposition to yourself or another person
Social skills cannot be used on PCs!
