Qhorin nods "then as your instruction milord, I will begin planning for the projects. By your leave?" He asks to be excused.

"You think I would ignore trade over land just because we have a port? I would exploit every option available to generate revenue, including selling any excess resources we have. However, a port could be up to three times as profitable as any quarry, and would provide us with sustainable food throughout the winter. You must think long term, brother. I know your heart is in the right place, and I have asked you to rebuild this castle, but everything must be weighed against our survival."
Belric turned to Qhorin, "Very well, mason. However, I would know your name for when we meet again."

"Qhorin milord. At your service." He got the hell out of there. Supposedly, the man was just throwing haymakers at any servant that stayed around too long.

Edmure sighed inwardly as his brother the soldier, lectured him about economics. "I did not say that you would ignore land routes." said Edmure patiently. "I know we must think long-term in regards to the construction of a port - a matter of which I am in full agreement. I'm saying the timing of these activities is all important. Done well, the first will lead to the other."

"The treasury has five thousand gold dragons to its name." Jon stated. "If the quarry is to cost 1600, I suspect a port might cost us double that. Lady Saesha has also expressed her own desire for the latter. Quite simply we have enough for both, but to empty our coffers would be reckless." The steward rubbed his chin in thought. "I have considered the possibility of acquiring a loan, but I fear that trying to find a loan after a war is like trying to find a good wine at Castle Black. Nevertheless I will endeavour in the attempt, my lord."

"Well Edmure, it is a good thing you have a mind for it, because I will not be staying in Harrenhal. I received a raven, from Lord Medgar Tully, requesting my presence in Riverrun." He looked at his brother in the eyes. Belric was obviously troubled, his features appeared warn and tired. "I am to swear fealty to our Lord Paramount."
He walked over to his desk and took a seat, offering one to both Edmure and Jon. "My plans have been put to shit, now that I will be leaving. We must lay down some groundwork for what is to be done while I am away."

Lord Tully, perhaps deliberately, had not wasted time in summoning the new Lord of Harrenhal thought Edmure. He wondered if Lord Tully would endeavour to keep Belric at Riverrun for as long as he could to hinder Belric's efforts to restore Harrenhal to its former glory.
"Lord Tully wastes no time." he said carefully. "However you can be assured, brother, that we will do our utmost to ensure your plans for this place are successful."

"I know, brother." Said Belric. He was very thankful for Edmure, the man had always been by his side. He knew there were times when he could be stubborn, or overly paternal towards his younger brother, but he hoped Edmure could look past such flaws. "If I return from this with my head still attached, we shall celebrate like true nobles."

"That we will." said Edmure with a grin. "When do you intend to leave? And who will you be taking?"

"In a few days time. Who will be joining me still remains a mystery." "I would guess your lady wife will be accompanying you." he said. "Possibly Violet and Yoren too."

Still in a foul temper after Saesha's meddling at the gates, Edmure goes to see Belric.

Belric was sitting in his solar, head hung low. He had Hoster's blood on his hands. Looking up at Edmure's arrival, Belric nodded but was at a loss for words.

"A bloody mess Belric." said Edmure sympathetically referring to the aftermath of the bandit fight. He crossed to the table and poured two cups of wine.
Returning to the table, he slid one cup across to Belric. "Here."
Edmure stared at the contents of his cup thoughtfully for a moment. "If they had exercised more caution and waited for reinforcements this situation most likely would have been avoided."

Belric sat, his expression pensive. The day's events had left his mind full of questions. He took the drink from his brothers hand, and drank from it heartily, like a dehydrated man to water. When he finished it, he set it down on the table motioning for Edmure to top him off.
"Tell me what you know of it, brother. I am hearing many tales, some of which attempt to tarnish your name." He looked to Edmure, without judgement. It was time to get to the truth of what happened in the clay pits.
