The Tower of Dread is one of Harrenhal's major towers. Its original name was lost with the death of Harren the Black, the builder of Harrenhal, in the burning of Harrenhal during Aegon's Conquest. It has since been renamed the Tower of Dread.[1]

Qhorin and his men tackle the Tower of Dread next. They could actually move through this one, as it was not nearly as ruined as Ghosts had been. Still a right proper mess inside though, barely usable. You might be able to hold men here, but it was no proper cell or living space. This spot was right on the edge of the castle though, perfectly positioned to support any of the main wall segments. Archers here could hit any part of the wall, without fear of the other towers getting in the way. If he could get the stairs and fortifications fixed, it would certainly make the castle a even harder nut to crack.

(Reduces building cost and time by 10%)
Qhorin notes a few corners he could cut to reduce costs and building time without compromising the effectiveness of the structure in any way. Still, he did not doubt it would be the most challenging project of his life to date.

The mason looks at his plans critically before looking up at the tower. This was better, but he had the feeling that experience with one tower would help immensely with dealing with any of the others. He'd draw up initial plans, but when he got going he would refurbish one at a time. There'd be plenty of lessons to learn when undertaking such things.
They'd head to the next tower and continue the survey of the remaining three, finishing up the task before the council meeting that afternoon.
