Gerdy's eyes went wide with greed, "Aye, there may be more of 'em. But it'll be pups and bitches." She smiled wide, the prospect of raising wolves was exciting.
"If none of yee want to come wit' me, thats canny. But ah'm not goin back wit' only half uh deer and one cub. We aint goin' anywhere till his wounds settle anyway. Might as well see this through." She quickly packed her saddle, mounting her horse with haste. Without a word, Warrior was at her side and ready to travel.
"Ah'll be back 'for the sun rises." With a kick of her heels, she was off in persuit of the remaining wolves. She did not look to see if anyone was following, the thrill of the hunt outweighing her caution.

Jormun chuckles quietly as he watches Gerdy leave, shaking his head. "I do not think she realizes her position. Let her hunt on her own if she is so determined, but she is not the head of this hunt. Whoever wishes to join her, join, but we have wounded and there are more predators than wolves in these woods."

The remaining guardsmen volunteered to take their wounded compatriot and the bear cub back to Harrenhal, all too eager to avoid a wolf hunt.

Dacey had assured Jormun she was fine, and thanked Gerdy for her medical assistance earlier.
She looked as the gigantic woman left, but nodded at Jormun. He was right. "We might need a new kennelmaster after this," she said dryly.

It probably would have done Gerdy some good to recall that she answered directly to the Master of Hunt and that she was wounded as she went off to her very likely death with her loyal hound. Nonetheless, the wolf trail is not hard to find, nor their den, but it is some hours before she discovers it, dug beneath a group of dead oaks. The sun had sunk below the horizon and the sliver of moon offered almost no light, a light snow beginning to fall.

Gerdy had never been one for chain of command, nor did she see the point of retunring to Harrenhal empty handed. She had spend most of her life in the wild, wethering snow and sleet the same as sunshine and clear skies. The challenge of persuing a wolf pack did not scare her, if this was the day she would meet the gods, she would greet them with a smile on her face.
Having located the den, Gerdy began her preperations. Using her axe, she cut wood for a shelter. She started with the frame work, building a makeshift house in the middle of the woods. When the skeleton of the structure stood on its own, she covered the roof with enough pine brances and foliage to keep out the snowfall. The lefterover sticks she sharpened into spears.
When her home away from home was complete, she took care of her own wounds. Though they were minimal, she feared infection above all else.

There's too much risk for us to follow her. Hopefully, the gods are watching."

Dacey sheathed her swords, picked up her bow and quiver, and mounted as well, not even wincing at her injuries.
"Oh they're watching," she promised, leaving the implication of the gods' indifference hanging in the air.

(Gerdy's luck turns and she rolls a 4 on the medicine roll. Failed. Also failed the survival roll with a 29. Best of luck.) It might have occurred to Gerdy that perhaps she should have seen to her wounds before running off after a pack of wolves in the middle of the night. She does more damage than good trying to patch up the teeth marks in her calf and she hears a growl in the darkness as she just begins to set up her shelter. She saw glowing eyes staring back at her in the dark, like embers in a dying fire. The alpha and his two surviving pack members had rejoined with the ones that had fled before, as well as a pair of the den mothers left behind to guard the pups. They were not after food now, something as simple as a mere meal. She had trespassed into their den, their home, and they would fight to defend that until the death.

Jormun feels that they made the right decision as the pair of them return to Harrenhal, trailing after the guards.

Gerdy charged into the furry fray, Warrior at her side for the likely suicidal charge. The wolves seem momentarily stunned by the massive woman running full tilt into their midst. She punches the alpha right in the snout, causing it to yelp in pain. While it's recovering, she takes another wolf in a headlock and snaps its neck in one fluid motion. Warrior pounces on one of the den mothers, but the heavier flips gets the best of the loyal hound, flipping it onto its back to law and bite at him, drawing blood. Two of the other wolves attack simultaneously, one sinking its teeth into Gerdy's ankle and the other latching onto to her forearm.
(Alpha takes a Light Wound, 1 Wolf Slain, Warrior takes a Light Wound, Gerdy takes 2 Light Wounds)
The wild woman pulls the two wolves off of her and hurls them against nearby trees, hearing cracks as a few of their ribs break and they howl in pain. She kicks the one nearest her in the side, as much tooth and claw as her attackers, locked in a death struggle. The wolf bitch atop Warrior begins tearing at his belly and snapping at his neck. The Alpha, seemingly incensed by the blood running down his snout, leaps at the massive woman, knocking her onto her back and clawing at her chest.
(Gerdy and Alpha both roll 100. +3 Unarmed to Gerdy. 2 wolves take Heavy Wounds. 1 Wolf takes Medium Wound. Warrior takes Medium Wound. Gerdy takes Light Wound)
Gerdy unleashes a primal bellow at the massive snarling wolf atop her and begins slamming her spade sized fists into its face, until the beast relents, snout a ruin and spitting its own teeth. The woman makes her way to her feet and begins flailing about with her fists wildly, hurling wolves like small children. Warrior receives another bite from the wolf atop him, at least serving as a distraction.
(Gerdy rolls 93. +2 Unarmed. Alpha takes Heavy Wound. 2 Wolves take Light Wound. 1 Wolf takes Heavy Wound. 1 Wolf takes Medium Wound. Warrior takes Light Wound.)
Working in unison, the Alpha and two of his packmates leap upon Gerdy, knocking her once more to the ground. They snap at her viciously, taste of her blood driving them into a frenzy. She manages to smack one away from her, but the others gorge themselves upon her, tearing open her unarmored belly and pulling out her guts. The alpha howls in early triumph as it takes the woman's intestines in his teeth, his brothers biting off a few of her fingers as she struggles and begins coughing up blood. Out of the corner of her eye, she catches sight of the she wolf tearing out Warrior's throat.
(Gerdy's good luck runs out and she rolls a 9. Gerdy takes 2 Heavy Wounds and an Average Wound. Wolf takes Light Wound. Warrior is slain. Gerdy is now mortally wounded but may fight on until the death blow.)
The last thing Gerdy sees is the eyes of the alpha, boring into her own, glowing in the dark, looking like the malevolent gaze of the Lord of the Seven Hells. Then she drifts off into oblivion. It seemed the wolves would have a meal this evening after all.
(Gerdy is Slain. Until you rolled that 9, I thought against all odds that you had it.)

20th day of the third moon ////
The sky was clear and turning to early morning blue, but the air was slightly chilled. Clout and Daisy stood waiting for Aelison to climb into her saddle. She wore her usual leathers and boots, but had a dark patched lined cloak fastened across her shoulders. Her quiver and bow was with her as well. The dogs were anxious and so was she, a little hunt would be good for all three of them. She spurred the horse and they started off.
She just wanted to hunt something easy for today. No bears or wolves, she left with two dogs and planned to return with the same.
