3rd Moon, 19th Day
"Ser Edmure!" Cried out Brandon as he caught up with the former castellan, followed shortly by his five men. "I afforded you the courtesy of a farewell, but do not think I am so bereft of sense of duty that I won't simply put a bolt in your backside and leave you to another breed of crow entirely should your attempt to flee my charge again!"
Brandon had fought under Jaime during the revolt, so Edmure knew well how little his noble status would serve him.

"You need to keep up then." said Edmure tartly. "My sister was in mind for a canter and I rarely refuse what she wants. And I am so looking forward to reaching The Wall, that I could hardly wait to get underway."

Violet glanced at Brandon. "We meant no harm, truly. Pray forgive us. I have not had a good ride in weeks."

"Where was this impetuousness at Armistead's Crossing?" He sneered through his black beard, before holding his tongue and allowing Lady Violet to catch up. He bowed respectfully from the waist to her, giving a 'milady' before ordering his men into a polite but efficient position around the pair.

Another expert thought Edmure, resisting the urge to roll his eyes.
"At Armistead's Crossing I was trying to avoid an unnecessary and costly war to Harrenhal. Now I'm going for a ride on a horse. See the difference?"
He slowed his horse to ride beside Violet, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Let's not quarrel," Violet insisted, glancing from Edmure to Brandon.

"Let's go." replied Edmure, not waiting for any sort of reply from Brandon. "I don't fancy spending the night outdoors if we can avoid it." He spurred his horse forward.

"I agree. Just...mind your tongue, though. Arguing with our guard will do no good."
Violet kept pace with Edmure. She savoured the open sky and the implied freedom of the road ahead.

"The sooner you realize what you fancy is the last of my concerns, the better this will go," Brandon replied to Edmure. "To that end, best get used to sleeping under the stars. You think we'll be shaming his lordship by letting his disgraced brother bed in an inn or lord's keep? You send men to the wall you want forgotten."

Edmure rolled his eyes. "I've slept under the stars many nights in the field during the war. More nights will be of little bother to me."
He shrugged his shoulders. "My sister - the lord's sister - has not though. And she's not going to The Wall. But I'll let you tell your Lord that. Or her betrothed, Lord Roote." He looked towards Violet. "Or maybe my sister can do the telling for you."

"Well all due respect to the lady, the only orders I heard from Lord Blackfort was to bring you to the Wall and return back, in the company of any family member that could still stomach being around you," the guardsman replied. "Far as I'm concerned, this is a prisoner transfer. That means we move with haste, no unplanned stops, no leisure trips. I don't intend to spend a moment in the North longer than I have to. Will scare my little one something fierce if I stay up there too long and my nose falls off from frostbite. If you've got a problem with that, you'll spend the rest of the trip shackled and gagged."
"When you wish to return, Lady Violet, I'll have two of the boys break off to escort you home," he said to Violet with much more respect.

Edmure reflected that Brandon's little one would be scared even fiercer were he to return to Harrenhal with his head separated from his shoulders and hanging from his horses's saddle. His fingers twitched and he forced himself to open and close his fist in order to quell the surging anger that welled up in him. There was Violet to consider as well.
"Very well." he said as carelessly as he could. He could not keep a faint trace of of mockery from his voice. "It shall be as you say.""

(Going to wait to see if Violet has any input and then move us along and roll this thing. Probably worth nothing that he has your weapons and armor. The only reason you're not in shackles is out of respect to Violet, though I'd expect to sleep in them.)

After listening to the men, Violet said " I am not intending to travel further with you than Harroway's Town, but it would be best - for all of you - to purchase warm clothing there. I wouldn't want any of you to succumb to the cold."
She paused for a moment.
"Brandon, it will take you weeks to ride up the Kingroad, even stopping no more than you must. That's unfamiliar territory, in weather colder than any of us can imagine. This is not my responsibility, I know, but why not consider going by ship? If you head to Saltpans after we stop at Harroway's Town, you might be lucky enough to find a ship heading to Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, or at least White Harbor. And I'm sure, if you sailed to White Harbor, there would be a ship going to Eastwatch from there. It might make the journey a little less unpleasant for you all."

"We brought no shortage of warm weather gear, my lady," Brandon replied, motioning to the saddlebags stuffed with gear and provisions for the long journey. "Pretty sure Tom over there brought every piece of clothing he owns."
"Unfamiliar or not, the journey is a simple one. Just follow the Kingsroad until it ends, no navigation required. His lordship didn't provide us with no coin for a ship and a journey by land has far less variables than hoping for a ship. Harrenhal don't tend to favor those who rely on good fortune. The route has been set and you can remain on it as long as you please, but you and your escort will be heading right back for Harrenhal when you decide to part ways."
