Character History:
Sigfry was the Middle child of 3 brothers, not as strong and not as smart as either of his siblings, but had a certain cunning to himself in his youth. A child who would get sick often in his youth, he often had to stay within the Keep's grounds, not going out to hunt and on extended trade trips with his family. Often he found himself feeling more foundness for the Maester and Master-at-arms then he did most others.
As Sigfry grew older, the coldness between himself and his family began to grow into an anger, feeling like his family had plans for his brothers and none for himself. During his first hunting trip with his family and a few other noble houses, one of the Hunting Dogs of the Darry's went wild and attacked, Mauling his arm and injuring his younger siblings leg as his horse reared up and bucked him off. Sigfry was left badly injured, but unattended to as his parents ordered the Maester to watch the youngest heir. Infection set in, and by the time the maester could actually attend to Sigfry, his left arm had to be removed at the forearm.
His family managed to get payment from the Darry's Lord, and the matter was left at that. Sigfry was left disfigured for life and his brother was walking again within a months time. Sigfry's older brother, then a Knight to the Tully's, had nothing but sympathy for Sigfry. At the suggestion however that Sigfry could be a knight someday, his older brother had no real answer, merely a pat on the back and more well wishes. The empty words hit hard, and sparked a desire in Sigfry to learn to be a knight, his own way. The Master at Arms was willing to take up the challenge of teaching a ward how to fight, and when the maester returned from the Reach with a Prosthetic for Sigfry, that his passions ignited fully for combat.
Within a year and a half, Sigfry became one of the best Swordsmen of the Deddings house. His combat was raw and full of fury, almost like that of those of the Iron Islands, and his combat style was unorthodox. Deddings forwent the use of a shield for using the prosthetic instead, throwing slashes with his hook hand mixed with a short sword blows and blocking with the false appendage when needed. What he lacked in the power of a two handed grip, he made up for in Speed and Cunning. Still however he went unacknowledged, and after a talk with his father in which he suggested that the Night's Watch have a good use for him, Sigfry gave up hope of ever being seen as good enough by his father.
The anger and resentment towards his parents however did not go away as his skill was recognized. If anything, it intensified, coalescing into a single minded drive for getting back at them. When the civil war between Targaryen and Blackfyre erupted, the realm became divided, and the riverlands was no different. The Deddings, one of multiple Riverlands Houses, declared for House Blackfyre, and there were many within the house who believed supporting a bastard born rebel was a bad idea. Sigfry saw his opportunity, a chance to act out his desires like never before, and the fire inside of him erupted into an Inferno. In the dead of night, the young knight went to his parent's chambers, reliving the guards and entering while they slept. It was over in less then half a minute, a stab through the chest of his mother, and the goring of the throat for the father.
The act was cautiously supported by the Maester, Master at Arms, Master of the Hunt, and most guards, after all both the Darry's and Tully's were loyalists and it was doubtful that the rebels would win. However, as the battle of Redgrass was resolved, and knews of the defeat spread, Sigfry's hold on the Dedding's lands crumbled. Kinslayer and Oathbreaker were muttered in Secret, and a letter from his brother urging him to take the black while he still could pushed Sigfry over the edge. His younger brother as well, had been a supporter of the Blacks, and was likely to wish death upon him for the murder of the parents who pampered him so much.
Sigfry could see what fate had for him and refused to be part of it, fleeing the Deddings lands and seeking to prove that he was a knight, a hero, and someone worthy of respect. The wanted posters did not take long, nor did his brother in sending guards to take him. But being the best of Deddings numbers allowed him to beat them easily, but did him no favors. Now he has been on the run, and finds himself struggling to maintain his morals or dignity in the face of a world that overwhelmingly wants him dead.
