Character History: Tarm was a village youth with time to kill when his father wasn't around, and he took the phrase to a literal sense, felling, fletching, and stringing his own bow to hunt and gather food for the village. A familiarity with the local woods and distaste for village life gave him an abundance of time to hone his skills, and when the local lords came recruiting, he ignored his family's wishes and put his prowess on full display.
A smooth recruitment and friendly personality gave Tarm an easy adjustment into the lord's army as hunter and scout, although his general disinterest in the events of the realm and rules of the army budded quickly inside of the teen. Boredom grew to disdain, and his anger grew to focus on men who had not even wronged him, turning friends and captains into targets of his growing ambition to lead his own fate. A drunken gamble gone poorly and loss of his hand-carved bow turned his attention to the very lord who had pulled him from his village lifestyle and carried him across the realm, and a plan for vengeance ate at the young man for weeks as they spent inexorably more time together.
Tarm's plan for revenge culminated on the night he stole his bow back from his friend's tent as he patrolled the camp, and as he made his way out of the camp, stole his scouting horse and fired an arrow at his commander and ally, striking him in the shoulder from a distance as he rode away in the confusion. No doubts remained about who had betrayed their lord, but a lead on the run and chaos of the camp meant Tarm had disappeared before the chase had begun.
