Character History:
Percival Lannister was born in Lannisport to the youngest brother of Lord Damon Lannister. Percival's father, Bartholomew was the leader of the Lannister Fleet. Lord Damon did not like to travel so he often sent his youngest brother to represent him. Ser Bartholomew took many trips to the other great cities of Westeros, and even occasionally sailed across the narrow sea to the free cities. Bartolomew and his four younger siblings always traveled with their father. His mother was a Hightower, so the family had a second residence in that city.
From a very young age Percival was always a rebellious child. He seemed to constantly be battling his father. Bartholomew felt betrayed by his heir. Father and son both had very strong personalities. Bartholomew tried everything to bring his son back under his control, but that only seemed to fan the flames. Over the years Bartholomew tried yelling, cajoling, bribery and eventually started beating his son regularly. Percival did not surrender his will though, and after particularly intense beatings he would disappear into Lannisport or Oldtown for a few days. Even knowing that when he returned his father would beat him even harder then before.
Percival and his father's feuding grew stronger and stronger. Then one day Percival's mother returned home and found her son in the arms of a stable boy. She was outraged and disgusted, but promised her son she would never tell his father. Percival thanked his mom, and kissed her cheek, but that very evening he fled Lannisport knowing he would never return. Percival did not believe his mom capable of lying to his father. Percival knew that he would have to find his own way in this world. His father would murder him the moment he heard about such a large transgression. He had learned the arts of war as a heir is suppose to but he had never been truly skilled at those endeavors. Percival knew some of finance but that was not a craft he craved, and the idea of being a craftsman simply horrified him. He had always loved and treasured knowledge though, so he traveled to the Citadel.
Pervical was excepted into the order, and he had letters drawn up forswearing any claim on his father's lands or titles. He began to train with the Maesters. Truth be told his training could have been cut very short, Percival still did not respect people of authority simply because they had authority. Most of his teachers were old and dull men. Percival realized that most of the Maesters who taught in the Citadels were so incompetent at their craft that the Archmaesters dare not send them out into the world. They loved their books and did not believe a fact unless they had read it in a book at least two centuries old. Percival clashed constantly with these men, and would have been sent away if not for ArchMaester Zachariah.
ArchMaester Zachariah was unlike the other teachers, he had lived a life as a Hedgeknight until he lost his arm in a Melee. After that he had managed to cajole his way into the Citadel as a Maester. Zachariah was a man who had lived a hard life, and learned many hard lessons. Percival was instantly drawn to him, and drank in his teachings hungrily. Percival soon forged his first chainlink, Iron. Zachariah had a passion for war and history. Percival then forged the copper link of history. Black Iron, silver and Steel quickly followed. At this point in his teachings Percival began to find other teachers that were friends or allies of his mentor. He forged the yellow gold of finance and bronze of astronomy. Then tin, red gold, platinum, lead and pale steel. His last ring was of Valyrian Steel, Percival choose the last against the advice of his mentor. There were many whispers in the Citadel about how close the two men had become, but no one laid any direct accusations.
Percival managed to stall the ArchMaesters for two years after he graduated before his first assignment. In the end he was assigned to Harronhal to replace the recently deceased Maester. Percival has only been in Harrenhal long enough to learn the names of his patrons. He still sometimes gets lost as he walks the halls of the large Keep. He has not made any friends in the short time he has served the keep with his prickly behavior, and his unwillingness to bend to any authority he does not respect.
Physical Description: A picture somewhere in your profile will also suffice
Reputation: None in Harronhal
Boon:
If you do not have a maester, it is taken to mean that you are of little consequence-Percival gives anyone who has sought his advice before a roll +1/5 of his skill to said roll in Command, Logistics, Governing, Diplomacy, Medicine, Animal Training, Fortifications, Civil Engineering, Agriculture, and Finance. In addition, he will give his house +1 Influence every month. He also gets +5 to social rolls and one disposition level higher against individuals also fluent in High Valyrian.
Curse:
We don't take kindly to your type around here-Male NPCs will be able to use seduction and charm rolls against Percival. If his non-traditional romantic interests are discovered, expect a lynching mob in short order.
