I think it was established that Ser Bruce was indeed killed in battle by Pipers.
Also, his parents were called Thomas and Martha.
And what's with the sporadical use of bold? Almost all of them are PCs.

But when was he killed in battle by the Pipers? One background seems to suggest before the Blackfyre rebellion...another during the Blackfyre rebellion but before Redgrass. Bold? Just to identify knights and lords for the moment. Just for me really.

I'm not sure what reason the Rootes and Pipers would have had to fight before the war, so I'd say he was killed in the first few months of Riverland infighting.
