Character History:
Symon was born to Ser Bruce Blackfort and a serving wench, he grew up in his village away from the rest of the family that he was sired from. He grew up fighting with the local village kids at first before he became old enough to try and get in with his dad's retinue of men-at-arms. Symon wasn't hired due to his blood but because of his strength and endurance with which he fought and sought learning all there was in the ways of combat. He threw himself into practicing with not one weapon but several at a time, only moving on to the next weapon when he understood fully the components of the weapon and how best to utilize them in different skirmishes. When it came time to go to war he soon found himself helping out among the peasant levys that were conscripted into fighting there lord's battle. Symon helped the peasants not for the sake of having a better fighting force, he just seemed to enjoy instructing other fighters in the hopes that they wouldn't go out into a battle field and be a hindrance to the man next to them.
Throughout the war, Symon did what was best; survive. He continued training the worthless peasants enough where they could survive for more then the initial charge. But by the end of the day he never went without picking up from the Lordlings and their own retinues. He watched his bastard brother with his Great Sword, And Daemon Blackfyre with his famed Valyrian Steel sword, His favorite person to watch though was Daemon, as he seemed to practice in the yard with every weapon imaginable, not just the sword with which he wreaked havoc on in the battlefield. Through the constant vigil of the lords in the army, he was invited to train with them after one of the lords noticed that he was attempting the same things that the lords did in their training. At first it was an honor to be in their midst when practicing, but it soon became apparent that he was only to be used as a training dummy for the likes of Aegor Rivers and the Fireball knight. What did it matter if a peasant bastard died during the war if it was a battle or training. Symon wasn't special to them, so in order to earn at least a little respect during his time in the army he started to throw even more of himself into training. There became no real fights and training fights, Symon set out each battle as if to kill his training partner, the ferocity with which he went about this caught the eye of Bittersteel himself. The King's half brother either wanted to relieve some stress or felt a certain pity for the man and went against Symon in a training bout.
Not wanting to be found a pauper by Bittersteel Symon went ape shit on the man, they sparred for the the majority of the day, switching weapons every so often. Surprisingly to himself, Symon was able to come out of the sparring sessions able to say he held his own. He was still outmatched and got beaten to a bloody pulp, but not nearly as badly as everyone expected. He continued training with the retinue of lords where he learned more about the different types of weapons then he ever thought was possible. This continued throughout the war and Symon enjoyed the opportunity to learn from the Kingsguard and the other nobles of the army
Once the war was over though everything stopped and Symon went back with his family to Harrenhall, he spent most of his time in the yard training. His brother Belric had decided that if he spent all of his time on the yard he might as well help train the new men-at-arms and the other knights slowly pledging themselves to the new Lord of Harrenhall.
Physical Description:
Reputation: Capable trainer on the field, he is able to hold his own against any man when on the yard. His prowess on the actual field of battle is lessened somewhat as during the war he never got close enough to actually make a well known kill.
Boon:
A True Warrior Should Not Have a Favorite Weapon-In the training fights or tourneys, Symon can match any opponent's weapon skill higher than his own, up to 95. If he is sparring with someone using a weapon neither of them has skill in, he rolls at 20. Those sparring with Symon will also have a chance of improving their weapon skills.
Curse:
Jack of All Trades, Master of None-In a fight to a death against an opponent with a higher weapon skill, Symon suffers -5 to fighting rolls
