"Hardly 'rotting,' Dace," Benjen grinned, the expression stretching the new scar on his cheek. "Aging like a fine wine. Marinating like a prime cut of meat. Rejuvenated and ready for great service to our grand house of Blackfort." Ben turned from Dacey to Hoster and back again. "Which is all to say, let's go kill some fucking bandits."
"And well met, Willis," Ben added. "I'd say congratulations on becoming part of the family, but since you've already met the rest of them I s'pose I should offer my condolences instead."

"It ain't like I can pretend to look down my nose at my less-than-couth Riverland cousins," Willis replied, "Not like I was fucking courtesans and conducting intrigues before I found Bel. I'm just one lucky-ass hedge knight, is all."

"Well, good to have you back," she told Ben and wheeled her horse around. "The competition was getting a little... non-existant around here. Better hope you still got it." She allowed him half a smile and rode out of the gate, assuming Hoster would catch a ride on someone else's horse, as usual.

"Was just giving you shit," Benjen informed Willis, then smiled at Dacey. "You'll see soon enough I expect."
Ben tapped his heels to his horse and rode through the gate after Dacey.

24th of the Second Moon
Ser Willem arrives outside the main gates on a spent looking horse.
He waits to see if he is recognized by the guards, not wanting to holler his name and purpose for all your hear if he does not have to.

As it happens Edmure Blackfort is in the middle of his daily inspection of the guards and is not far from the main gate. Having being informed by a guardsman of Willem's arrival, he gives instructions for his cousin to be admitted.
"You found them then?" he asked somewhat rhetorically. There would be no other reason why Willem would have returned in such haste.

"Yes, Ser Edmure!" Willem called. "They are in the clay pits, and as they outnumbered our group, Benjen and I were able to convince the group led by Lady Dacey to allow me to return for reinforcements. We should return as hastily as possible lest the bandits uncover the others while they wait for us to return."

On hearing his cousin's report, Edmure wasted no time in issuing orders to the men standing nearby.
"I'm giving you twenty men." he said to Willem. "If you can take prisoners so they can face formal justice. If you can't......well I understand."

"If you could spare me a mount as well, we will likely make better time back. I have ridden mine harder than it is used to."

As it happened, Lady Saesha was returning from Harrentown and heard the tail end of the conversation.
She ordered water to be brought for the man who was clearly out of breath and in need of it.
"You are not authorised to order these men to go and provide aid, Castellan, let alone when you know nothing of the situation." She had thought Edmure had learnt of what his job was. Clearly not.
"Tell me, Ser Willem, how many of them are they, how outnumbered are the men we already sent?"

"Take what you need from the stables." replied Edmure ignoring Saesha.
"Gods' speed, cousin. Bring these traitors to justice."

"You are not authorised to order these men to go and provide aid, Castellan, let alone when you know nothing of the situation." She had thought Edmure had learnt of what his job was. Clearly not. "Tell me, Ser Willem, how many of them are they, how outnumbered are the men we already sent?" "Lady Dacey seemed to believe there was around twelve, my lady. As for our own forces, there are two scouts who were travelling with me who won't be much worth in a fight. Apart from them, our force was comprised of Benjen, Lady Dacey, Hoster, and a foul mouthed knight who insisted that doing his duty was an accomplishment. I've seen him around Harrenhal but haven't cared to learn his name. There was a few of the...men who keep Hoster company as well, but I'm uncertain how many and I would not place much worth on them in a fight." Willem paused, allowing Saesha and Edmure to process that information, and allowing himself to do a quick count of those he had just named while also catching his breath. After a few seconds, he continued. "So now, in my absence they would outnumber our force by a couple men, if Lady Dacey's estimate was correct. The bandits are living in the crater of the clay pit. Lady Dacey seemed to think that there was only one way their headquarters could be reached, meaning our force would have to attack through the guards they have stationed. But with a large enough force we should be able to encircle them and force them to surrender with minimal loss to our own forces." He then turned to Edmure. "You have my thanks, Ser Edmure, I will make the mount count should Lady Saesha allow my return to the group."

"I am the Castellan here, Willem." replied Edmure. "Appointed by my brother to assist him in governing this castle and his lands which includes maintaining law and order. Lord Belric is not present. Grab yourself a fresh horse and take the men I have assigned you and do your duty."

"Lord Belric is in residence, Edmure, so you have no authority here. You may be the lords brother, but I am an extension of him himself." She snapped irritably at the man,
"You wish to... Use men to circle a house in a clay pit?" Saesha asked, looking calm but inside wanting to string this mans neck. Who did not know how many men they had with them? Who came looking for reinforcements before they were aware of their situation. Now wasn't the time to address these issues. They could be dealt with upon their return.
"Take ten men, and then perhaps Ser Edmure could accompany you and actually deal with the task he was given by my husband?" She challenged the castellan who had ignored her. He had no other use here at present. She was not happy risking a fifth of their whole force on something uncertain "If the men will not surrender, send a rider back, with actual information, on the numbers you have the numbers they have and how well armed these men are and we shall see if more are needed."

Willem glanced between the two giving conflicting orders, and decided to keep his mouth shut and let the two work out who was in charge. However as lady saesha had asked him a question, he opted to provide an answer to that. "I am neither in command here nor there my lady, so my wish is not entirely relevant. If you are asking my opinion, then yes, I believe we should exercise caution in dealing with the lives of our men and relatives. Surrounding the house in the clay pits seems the safest way to do that. As for the information I have provided you, I'm sorry I do not have more. I have reported everything I was told by Lady Dacey. She directed me to leave for assistance before I was able to accurately appraise the situation."
