Where the ravens are housed, sent, and received. In order to send messages via raven instead of the much slower and riskier way by horse messenger, a maester must capture and train ravens to fly back and forth to individual keeps.

Violet headed up to the rookery. She wasn't quite sure where Maester Percival would be, though she'd heard rumours of his imprisonment, and others saying that he had been set free. But he was not present when she arrived. She walked up to the ravens in their cages, grabbed a handful of corn and tossed it gently into the nearest cage. She decided to wait a while and see if the maester arrived.

After slaving away to save Violet's siblings he walked to the rookery to check in on the birds. He saw Violet and ignored her. He walked to the edge of the cages and began checking on each bird. Making sure are were well, and properly fed and watered.

Spotting Percival, Violet greeted him with a smile, though his appearance gave her pause at first.
"Maester. I'm glad to see you back where you belong. I hope you will soon feel better."
She realised there was blood on his clothing but didn't know what he'd been doing just now. "I hope the guards didn't hurt you?"

Percival stopped and looked at her from across the room. He could barely hear her over the birds' many cries. He frowned slightly. He did not know what this spoiled little girl wanted. "I am with out injury. This is your uncle's blood. How may I be of service to you?" He spoke softly though so his words were difficult to hear over the ravens many noises.

She accidentally creased the letter in her hand in shock. "My uncle? Seven preserve him. I hope he's not too badly hurt. I have a letter to send. What happened to my uncle?"

"I had to take his arm." Percival replied in a bored and unconcerned tone, "Where do you wish the letter sent?"

Violet let out a squeal of horror. "Oh no!" It took her a moment to compose herself. "The letter is for Lord Roote. I hoped you might have a bird to send him. He's our ally, after all."

"I do. Give me the letter. I have to check on all my birds. I was detained in prison for several days." Percival held out his hand. "You should hurry down to visit your uncle. He is going to need some one to care for him the next several days."

"I'll do what I can," she said. "I can pray for him if nothing else."
She handed over the letter. "Shall I send some food up for you?"

"That would be much appreciated." Percival replied with a bow of his head. "You are a kind girl." The Maester wanted to puke. He had always associated kindness with idiocy. He wondered how those two traits had become breed together in human stock.

"I'll send the food as quickly as I can," she promised. "Thank you for your assistance with the ravens. One day, when you're recovered, perhaps you would be good enough to teach me about them. But I will leave you now. I expect you want to rest."
She smiled at him and departed.
