"Fortunate" says Richard, patting Nyles on the back "Good work." He turns to Ser Malkyn "What else can you tell us about this manse? Other than being a hive of scum and villainy. Is it a tavern?"

Ser Malkym stroked his finely pointed beard. "More like an inn than a tavern. Gangs tend to use it as a hideout, while drunks and reprobates sleep in the courtyard without having to be harassed by the Watch. Old King Daeron ordered we raid it once a moon as an example to the other cutthroats, but he left the city to Prince Maekar, who was more concerned with the war than common criminals. I can't say I know who the current lord of the manor is, but I wager it's your man."

"We'll have to do a raid then. It's long overdue. Though, how many would you estimate are there? I'd take 3 knights and 6 goldcloaks over most, but numbers can still tell." said Richard, privately thinking the goldcloaks would... well, at least they'd distract a man or two. Maybe 3 overall. "I'd say we move to Flea Bottom, get as much information we can in a short time, then go in before they have a chance to prepare. They shouldn't be able to guess what's about to descend on them. Ser Harlan, Ser Florent, what do you think?" he asks the other two knights, them not having said much yet.

"No clue." Declared the watchman. "The little shits typically run when they see us coming, but if they're hoarding leather, they might be feeling braver."
Florent nodded. "I've never met a bandit worth the time it takes to sharpen my sword, and if they were proper warriors, they'd have fled with Maekar. And I would hate for my brother to hear I was frightened by a few thugs."

Nyles stayed mostly silent, but he knew as well as anyone five common thugs could kill a knight easily enough. "It'd probably be a good idea to have a few extra guards around to cut off a retreat. Would be a shame to raid the place and they just flew out some back door." He hid a wince at his leg. "Half a dozen crossbowmen would be a good start."

"Not likely." Scoffed Malkym.
"And why is that?" Inquired Ser Sebastian.
"Most of the City Watch received their cloak when Daeron was king, or even when he was handling his father's affairs. Most of them are good men and go about their duties with honor, but it hasn't even been a moon turn of the moon since you people arrived. They see a choice between letting a Targaryen loyalist slip or having him be butchered by the same man who, no offense to Ser Richard, may or may not have killed the High Septon, well..."

Nyles nodded. "All the better," he said. "Best to root out the traitors too dumb to keep hidden. If they let them go, we know they can't be trusted. That's a victory in itself."

"We shouldn't test those men" said Richard "They are caught in a hard place, and it will take time for trust to grow for the King. He will earn it, and this can be a part of that. Further, I would see it far easier for one of those men who feel sympathy for the Targaryens to let our target know we're coming. We'd be the ones walking into crossbowmen. Any thoughts from you Ser Harlan?"

Having said his peace, Nyles trusted his uncle to make the right call and he readied himself for the battle.

He turned to Ser Malkym. "What if we enlisted men from the Red Keep instead?" he inquired.

"I fear that's beyond my purview, Ser. And I was given the impression you were the men from the Red Keep." Ser Malkym did not seem inclined to put his career in jeopardy by further annoying the Master of Laws. "If you know other men willing to fight with us... Perhaps some of Ser Sebastian's own men."
"Those are my brother's men, and their task is to defend Lord Hightower. Lord Reyne though... That man nearly lost a daughter in the Great Sept. And he is hardly averse to irritating those in power."

Harlan looked to Richard, finding Lord Reyne a sound solution. "How about it?" he asked.

"Hmm" Richard pursed his lips "Unfortunately, I had considered Reyne already as well, but was instructed explicitly to leave him out of this matter. It was not my choice, but I'll follow it. With that said though, it seems we are left with heading in. Ser Malkym, you know the way, and the place. This is a raid for the owner of the establishment, and I would have you lead us in the best way you know how." Richard was not a city-boy, and he knew local experience trumped any kind of fighting skill. He hoped the man was up to the task.

"Of course, Ser Richard. I've raided that place six times, and never with trained men such as you goodly highborn folk." If Ser Malkym was being a braggart, his voice was too even to convey it.
Ser Sebastian gave Richard a puzzled expression. "Lord Hightower and Lord Reyne are good friends. It seems odd that His Grace or the Hand should forbid his assistance."

Richard shrugged and shook his head "I do not know the reason, but mayaps it was because Lord Reyne would seek... other methods to avenge the scare done to his daughter and family. It is simpler this way I suppose. Whatever the cause Ser, I believe this can be done without any other help. If you would lead the way Ser Malkym?" Richard mounted his horse.
