Lord Medgar, Ser Torren, and a half dozen Tully knights saw them off at the drawbridge, all armored save their lord.
"I do hope you enjoyed your stay in Riverrun, Lord and Lady Blackfort. I know these things can be quite tedious."

"On the contrary, m'lord. It was a far more pleasant visit than we had expected. I appreciate your hospitality, it gives me hope that this war is truly behind us."

"Excellent," Medgar replied, patting him on the shoulder like they were old friend. "Oh, that reminds me, a raven arrived for you a few days before you arrived," he drew a letter from his pocket, the seal clearly already broken and its contents read. "In our fun I just kept forgetting to pass it along."

Belric took the letter and read it over. Medgar's uncommonly friendly manner unnerved him as he opened the broken seal.

It is dated the day on which Lord Belric left for Riverrun.
Brother,
Lord Roger Vance of Atranta, our vassal, has requested our aid. Lord Smallwood of Acorn Hall, a vassal of Lord Piper of Pinkmaiden, has occupied a border village, containing a mill and food stores belonging to Lord Roger - supplied they are relying on for winter. According to Lord Roger, Smallwood's invading knights are supplemented by those of Lord Piper. Lord Roger fears that Piper seeks to begins a general war against Harrenhal by manufacturing an incidentl
As a short term measure to buy us some valuable time to prepare and also to demonstrate our preparedness to support Lord Roger, I have authorised that Lord Roger's forces be augmented by a small number of our men, under the command of Ser Willem Rivers. I have informed Ser Willem that he is not to be the aggressor and that his force is, for the moment, a defensive measure only . However this may prove to be insufficient. Given our on-going rebuilding of the castle and your absence I am reluctant to lead a force of men myself, unless with your express approval. We need to ensure that the castle itself is well defended
Given that my duties extend only to our immediate lands, I ask for either your approval to lead a force to re-take the village with Lord Roger and/or that you intercede with Lord Medgar Tully on Lord Roger's behalf. I myself with meet with our uncle to discuss this matter further.
I await your urgent reply,
Given this day at Harrenhal on the 1st day of the third moon.
Edmure Blackfort, Castellan

He was hit by a wave of conflicted emotion, much of his frustration lingered on the fact that Medgar had chosen to withhold the letter for the entirety of his stay. This did not bode well for a trusting relationship.
"My Lord, what action have you taken while I sat idly?" His expression was placid, built from stone.

"What have I done? Why I have done nothing? With all the feuds in the Riverlands, I can hardly manage them all. Best of luck though," he said, in a pleasant yet patronizing tone, like talking to a child. Ser Torren was smiling for first time Belric had seen in the entirety of their stay, as if this were an amusing punchline to some joke.

"Very well," said Belric. He was relieved to hear that Medgar had not taken action to support House Piper. If there was indeed a feud within his lands, Belric preferred to handle it himself. Tully's indifferent attitude was evidence enough that Belric was free to handle the situation as he saw fit. The Lord Paramount would be forced to support whoever came out victorious.
"May the Seven hold you in their graces, Lord Medgar," he said endearingly with an offer of his hand.

If that was Belric's read of the situation, it was an unfortunate one. Arguably intentionally withholding the letter for so long was as much tacit support of Piper as Medgar could give in the current political landscape. It had ensured that the current crisis had had days, if not weeks, to play out and war possibly instigated while Belric ate and hawked like a fool none the wiser, when had he knows, he likely would have ridden back for Harrenhal right after saying his vows.
"Give my best to Lord Piper," Medgar replied, not returning the handshake, clearly wondering if Belric was too dense to get the point.

Belric read Medgar's message loud and clear. Though he thought the Lord made two fatal mistakes, The first being that he had not sent men to take Harrenhal in Belric's absence, and the second that he was about to let Belric walk free. Whatever false relationship Tully had forged over the last week had been dismantled with a simple gesture. Belric would make Medgar eat his fist before it was over.
The Lord Paramount was perhaps not as good at playing the game as he had thought. As Belric had said at dinner, he was used to dealing with vipers.
Belric simply closed his fist and took a step back from Medgar. He gave a flourish of his hand, ending in a deep bow. It was perhaps the best bow Belric had ever given, though obviously sarcastic. After uprighting himself, he simply mounted his horse and left.

Yseult has done her duties as best as she can, she is moving slower than usual and carefully. Her demeanor is subdued and quiet from too many shocks and too much trauma in a short time.
Once her Lady is all sorted and astride her horse Yseult carefully gets on hers and carefully seats herself in the saddle. Her cloak hood is up and her hair down to try to cover some of the damage to her face.
Her face is rather abraided and heavily bruised from repeated contact with a rough stobe wall, her pale neck is one massive bruise with indents and bloody marks on it from where she has been repeated strangled with one and two fists encased in plate mail. Her hands are abraided, her wrists and forearms look much like her neck and it is anyones guess what her battered body looks like beneath her dress and cloak.
If Lady Saesha has questioned her on why shes moving diffrently Yseult has politely asked to defer questions until they are away from Riverrun alive and on the way home when she will happily subject herself to any grilling the Lord and Lady Harrenhal minght have.

Saesha held her hand out and waited, reading it when Belric handed it over. She fear anger rising in her, whether she was more angry at Tully for withholding it or their clueless Castellan for writing it all down she was not sure.
Her mask was no so easily broken though.
"Thank you for hosting us, my Lord, I know it cannot have been easy after such a long seige and thank you for the letter," her face may have been placid, but her tone had a slightly sharper edge to it, "until we meet again,"
As she mounted she looked at Yseult, "what happened to you?"

Yoren was not smiling about the situation, able to tell something was amiss but doing his job as a knight to stand at his lord and lady's call. He trusted Saesha Seastar to be able to have a read on this situaton, and awaited belric to tell him who to swing his hammer at, when the time would come.

Yseult makes eye contact with Saesha and looks petrified. She shakes her head slightly in a barely there movement trying to communicate that NOW is not the time for questions. Her eyes twitch in Ser Torren's direction without looking or moving her head. 'I was up late finishing my tasks M'Lady' She says in a soft whispered raspy tone through her mangled throat.

"Which does not excuse that you were absent from them this morning" Saesha replied to her handmaiden, whether she'd picked up on the cues or whether she thought it not worth continuing the questioning could not be seen.
With another incline of her head to Tully and a side look at Torren, Saesha left with her husband.
