"Don't give me that shit!" snarled Edmure at the Smallwood knight. "You claimed this village after the war ended, taking full advantage of the fact that the Blackforts were too busy at Harrenhal, setting things to rights. The Lord of Harrenhal is married to the King's sister - you think he's going to be too happy at your incursions on his lands? And make no mistake - Ser - these are the Lord of Harrenhal's lands. I ought to hang you now for rape - knight or no knight."

"We look like lawless bandits?" the man spat, clearly missing the irony. "I'm a sworn knight of Acorn Ridge and that dead man a sworn knight of Maidenpool. I followed my orders. Was told to stay here in our lands and secure the borders from that Vance prick that still thinks himself a king in these parts, so I stayed. Going to hold it against me that I needed a bit of trim to keep warm? It's fucking winter! So fuck the king and fuck his sister, I'd be more worried what Piper does and what Tully says when he finds out you're butchering the knights of other high lords during a new peace. How happy you think that stubborn fish is going to be?"
The peasant girl, bruised and battered, in a torn dress, was curled up in fetal position against the far wall crying.

Having decided that if he listened to the Smallwood knight anymore he would be sorely tempted to kill him, Willem sheathed his bloody blade and turned his attention to the peasant girl. Having not had parents himself he was no expert on such matters, but he felt that someone should probably be comforting the victim of the rape. Since her parents were nowhere to be seen and were presumably preoccupied with Septon Jared outside, he cautiously made his way over to the girl who he had just potentially started a war over.
He stood over her for a moment, visor raised, before awkwardly kneeling to pat her on the shoulder, wincing in pain as he did so. "It's ok." He told her. "It's all over. There's nothing to be afraid of now."
He was quite confident nothing he was telling her was true, but tried to hide that.

"You're invaders and you personally are guilty of rape." replied Edmure to the knight scornfully. "Breaking the King's peace, by trespassing on land that doesn't belong to you and committing rape and pillage. Your companion resisted arrest, caught in the action of committing a crime and paid for it with his life. I'll also wager that whoever's in that tavern isn't paying for their victuals."
He levelled his sword at the knight's throat as his two guardsmen entered the house to bind him. "Let's find out."

Meanwhile, outside the tavern, Jared listened to the commotion as he attempted to comfort the girl's parents.
"I am sorry for your suffering," he said. "If there is anything I can do to help, I will do it gladly. For now, perhaps you should go to your daughter and take care of her. She will need you both, more now than ever. Seven help her."

"What part of you kicking down the door and swinging fucking swords at us was an attempt at an arrest?!?!" the man yelled. "Aye let's find out. Can I at least put on some pants first?"
The young girl flinched and screamed when Willem touched her.
"Thank you," the girl's father told the septon, voice still hoarse. "Seven bless you, father."

Seeing that his attempt at consoling her was failing horribly, Willem removed his hand from her shoulder, stood back up, and walked across the room to where Edmure was, waiting for instruction from him.

"Your voices may be needed if this leads to questions later," Jared warned the couple. "But come, we'll go inside to your daughter now. Her care must be our first priority, while Ser Edmure deals with any further problems in the village."
He led the way into the house.

"You won't be going anywhere." replied Edmure to the Smallwood knight. He glanced at the two guardsmen who had entered and were awaiting his further orders and indicated Willem to them.
"Willem, see that he's bound and gagged. Move that..." he indicated the dead man... "against the wall and cover it. No-one else is to enter the house apart from myself, the family and yourself and those others I authorise. Keep him..." he pointed at the Smallwood knight, " ...inside and out of sight. Clean up the place and make it look as normal as possible. Put a curtain across the door or get it repaired somehow or make it look as normal. Stay here and I'll see if we can extricate ourselves from this situation."
He flexed his fingers and drew in his breath at the stab of pain. A couple of broken fingers and he suspected a broken rib. Nothing noticeable though.

"I'll see to that with pleasure." Willem replied, before scanning the room for articles that might serve to bind and gag their captive. The more dirty or humiliating the restraints, the better, so far as he was concerned. "But I don't need the guardsmen. My task is easy enough, and you may have need of them should things go amiss." Edmure nodded. "Any difficulty, kill him. Might as well be two bodies to dispose of." Edmure then indicated to the guardsmen that they should follow him. He stepped out of the house and gingerly mounted his horse, making a brave far of not allowing the pain he felt to show through. He glanced at the tavern four buildings away where it appeared the sounds of carousing continued unabated. He shaded his eyes against the sun sinking slowly into the west. Nightfall was not far away. That was good.
"Ready Willas?" he asked. "I feel like a drink."
They moved slowly down to the tavern, where they waited outside patiently for someone - anyone - to emerge. Edmure wasn't going to risk any more men on both sides dying. At least not at this stage.

Willem made his way over to the bedsheets, drew his sword, wiping the still wet blood off of it onto the sheets for good measure, and then used the tip of the blade to cut off some appropriately sized strips for the task of binding their captive. He then sheathed his sword and made his way back over to the Smallwood knight.
"You make things difficult and I'll have the gag coated with pig shit before I put it in your mouth." he said, kneeling and looking the knight straight in the eye. He then attempted to bind the man, tying his wrists first.

"I'm quaking in my boots," the man spat, with a derisive laugh. "How are those ribs of yours feeling? Your smith is going to have a field day pounding that dent out."
Despite his words, he did not struggle as he was bound. The victim's father made his way in and took up the man's mace from the floor.
"I thank you, ser," he said, befre asking. "I beg you grant a father justice and leave me alone with this swine."

"I'll wager I'm feeling better than your friend felt when I put my sword through his neck." Willem replied, trying to hide any sign of the pain he was feeling, before inserting the gag in the man's mouth sans pig shit.
"No need to thank me." Willem replied, standing and turning to face the father of the victim when he entered. "We only did what any true knight would do." He stressed "true" with a pointed glare at his captive.
He glanced over at the man bound in the corner, thinking about the father's request. While he understood the man's desire, after a moment he decided that he could not grant it. He had done enough harm to the prospects of peace without allowing a man who had yielded to be murdered in cold blood. "You have my apologies but this man, swine that he is, has yielded to us. He will receive his justice from Lord Vance or Lord Blackfort; his life is no longer in the hands of you or I."
(OOC: I believe Edmure took the guardsmen with him, meaning it was just the knight and Willem in the house before the father entered.)
