////////// 19th Day, 3rd Moon, Evening
Belric sent a servant to summon Willem. The pecking order of Harrenhal was shifting rapidly, and Belric meant to stay on top of it. He needed good men, and despite Edmure's recent cowardice, Belric valued his opinion and intended to get to know his cousin better.

The servant returned with Willem, clad in what looked to be a fresh tunic. Willem stepped in to the room and briefly bowed his head. "You wished to see me, my lord?"

"Yes, Willem, come in and take a seat. Would you like something to drink?" Belric motioned with his head to one of the seats before him, his hands occupied by the pouring of wine. "I have been wanting to talk to you. First to see how your foot was doing, but also to ask you about my brother and what you know of his intentions."

"Thank you, my lord." Willem replied, taking a few more steps toward Belric and accepting the offered seat. Once Belric was done pouring the wine he accepted a glass from him but did not drink, waiting for Belric to do so first. "My foot is well enough. I have not felt pain in it for a good many days now. My ribs also seem to have healed quite well. If only the maester was as good with words as he is with his hands he would be an excellent servant to your house."
Willem paused considering his wine. "What do you expect me to know of your brother that you don't already know yourself, my lord?"

He sipped his wine, an ever practicing alcoholic. "I am glad to know you are well. I had not been told of your ribs, what happened?"
"As for Edmure, I was hoping you could tell me where he intends to go. Despite whatever overexxageration he told you, I still care for his well being. He will always be my brother. No amount of quarreling could change that."

Willem paused briefly to take a swig of his own wine, drinking more at once than one with better manners would have. Evidently Edmure had not come to speak with Belric yet.
"So far as I know, your brother remains in Harrenhal, my lord." Willem replied. "It was his intention to leave, but I suggested he should speak with you before he did so. Unless he has parted in the last few bells without my knowledge, he accepted my counsel."
He took another swig of wine, near finishing what was in the glass. "As for my ribs, I took a wound trying to stop the rape of a young girl by Lord Smallwood and Lord Piper's knights. Ser Edmure was wounded in the fight as well."

"He's still here?" Belric asked, noticeably concerned. "I had figured he would have been gone by now, considering he left me a letter instead of telling me in person." He said the last few words with repugnance, his lip furling slightly. "My brother has a problem communicating."
"Enough about Edmure," He said, finishing his own wine. "I would like you to be my sworn shield, Ser Willem. A knight who fights for a woman's honor is a rare thing that I am in need of. What do you say cousin?"

"It seemed to me that he felt that his contributions were unvalued, and communication would be without purpose." Willem replied. "But it is neither my place, nor do I have the knowledge to say whether there is truth to that." Willem pondered for a moment. Belric was making him a good offer, but he didn't see why he wouldn't favour Jormun or Willis, knowing them better. "I am flattered by your offer, my lord. May I ask why you would favour me above Jormun? It was he, after all, who served as your champion at Armistead's Crossing."

Belric snorted, "You are a smart man to stay out of this. This should be settled between Edmure and I, no point talking about it."
"As for why I have chosen you and not Jormun, it is rather simple actually. He is not fit to be my sworn shield. Jormun was born to slay beasts and topple giants, not protect his half brother. When we open the pits, people will sing his name if he chooses to compete. His legend could rival mine, furthering the Blackfort name. He does not need to be living in my shadow, confined to this castle." Belric looked at Willem, empathy in his eyes. "Therefore the burden falls to you, should you accept my offer."

Willem wasn't sure what made one bastard any worthier of glory than the other, but he kept his mouth shut about that. Setting down his nearly empty glass, he nodded his head. "Very well, my lord. I accept the position you offer me. I am grateful for your trust."

"That is good to hear, for there is much work to do." Belric got up from his chair to excuse Ser Willem. "Thank you cousin, that will be all. Unless you would have something of me before we part." He waited for Willem's response.

"Just one question, my lord." Willem said, rising as well. "Would you have me move my quarters to this tower?"

"If it pleases you to do so," he replied. "Would make sense to be close by if you are to protect me."

"I will see to moving my quarters at once then, my lord." Willem said, bowing before making his exit.
