Come now I haven't even started insulting people.
I reckon we can crack the -100.

At the end of the feast, the king hands Belric the keys to Harrenhal and a neatly written declaration of war.

So I know it's weird by modern standards, but it seems every RP ever made treats the bedding like some sort of torture when there's little real evidence anyone sees it as anything other than a playful tradition.

I tend to agree, though I can see why Shaesha personally wouldn't have been thrilled about it in that particular moment. Everyone else should have seen it as a normal tradition. If anything, the near-peasants are probably used to far raunchier beddings.

That's true, I just figure it'd be less of a playful thing when its this kinda completely arranged, multiple person wedding, and with the disposition of the bride at this point. We just need better marriages lol.

I mean most weddings were completely arranged. It was rare that the bride and groom had ever met, as travel was dangerous and it didn't really matter what they thought. The Red Wedding is a good example of how these things worked, until the whole mass murder part. We've just become too accustomed in these games with folks choosing their own spouses.

We have a much more modern take on women's rights in our games than the books do, and we're not nearly as prone to emphasize how fucked up a feudal system is for 95% of the population.

Though that was part of the reason we were drawn to have the females in this game be from a knightly house, or in sour's case, a royal bastard. We felt this would help explain why the women were more capable and independent in a realistic way, and not embroidering and waiting to be married all the time.

Remember how vehemently anti-bedding I was in my first game? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Still not a fan but I'm perhaps less outspoken about that now. Or maybe I have just found other battles to fight instead. Though that was part of the reason we were drawn to have the females in this game be from a knightly house, or in sour's case, a royal bastard. We felt this would help explain why the women were more capable and independent in a realistic way, and not embroidering and waiting to be married all the time. For once I actually made a character who does those things though she certainly expects to do more than sit around while someone else decides who her husband will be.

I realized tonight that I spend far too much time with you idiots. I was reading an article on USA Today about the discovery that King Tut's dagger was made of meteorite. Their attempt at a clever sub-heading was "Begging the question, are we sure it's not dragonglass?" I then spent far too much time listing the reasons in my head why that question was stupid and the author should be euthanized.

Listening to you all complain about the bedding ceremony is like listening to people bitch about birthday present.
