"You are to be Lady Roote, are you not?" Almia said with a tilt of her head. "The King will be forced to talk to you now, even if only in greeting."
"Songs and prayers seem like enough when we are children. But a grown lady needs something more fulfilling than the words of haggard old women." Almia gave Violet a nudge and a wink. "I'd have done the same thing in your position. I can hardly stay in the same place for more than a few months. I can't imagine being confined to the septs."

Violet smiled. "Yes. I'm grateful for the education I received but the sept isn't for me. I will be happier as a married woman. Do you plan to marry?"

Almia laughed, almost violently. "I do not think so, m'lady. Men are best when temporary. Besides, most of them do not care to make an honest woman out of a bastard girl." She smiled, though there was something sad hidden within.

"That is a problem, yet there are knights who are bastars too, and you're pretty enough to attract attention. But it doesn't matter if you would prefer not to marry. What shall you do instead?"

"Thank you, m'lady." She said, shying away from the compliment. "I am not entirely opposed to the idea. Though my love for travel will be quite an obstacle. More than likely I'll become a midwife, or the handmaiden to a Lady wise enough to see my talents." She giggled again, the end of her statement riddled with sarcasm.

Violet smiled. "Would you like to serve me for a while? I'll be in need of more handmaidens once I'm a married woman. And I'm sure my husband would see the sense in promoting good relations between your trueborn kin and his own house."

"You are very sweet m'lady, and had the timing been better I may have accepted." Almia had some reservations about declining Violets offer, however she had just gotten to Harrenhal and the last thing she wanted to do was be a servant. "I believe my talents will be best put to use at the Apothecary in Harrentown, permitting the Maester approves of me. Though, I'd very much still like to be your friend." She offered a smile as if it had the power to influence Violet's opinion.

"I am always in need of new friends." Violet answered. "For myself, I had rather be a lady's handmaid than an apothecary's assistant, if I had to make the choice, but I wouldn't want to influence your decision. Come and visit when I'm married, if you like"

"That is why we must be thankful we live in a world where women have the option. I am far better at stitching wounds than I am stitching dresses. Though I'd be lying if I said I had given them each a fair effort." She adjusted her dress, as if she was considering her words for the first time. Deciding it wasn't worth the effort to try now, she smiled politely at Violet and nodded. "I will be sure to come visit you once you have moved. Perhaps on my way north, it has always been a dream of mine to see the Wall."
Now comfortable that she wasn't going to be losing her seat anytime soon, Almia discreetly searched the necks, ears, writs, and fingers of the women sitting around her. She was going to need a fair bit of gold to last the winter.

"The Wall, why?" Violet asked, surprised. "There is no place for women at the Wall, and what use is it simply to look at it? For myself, I had rather see some place pretty, like Highgarden. It's warmer too. But if you have the means to go, I suppose you should go where you most wish to."

Saesha was sat watching the Melee on a dais with the best view. She invited Lord and Lady to Tully to watch with her. "It is a fine day for it is, it not?" She asked the two of them, happy to make some small talk as they waited for it to begin. Lord Medgar had accepted the invitation and expected place of honor, wrapped in fine furs with a cup of hot mulled wine in hand, steam swirling from it as it hit the chill winter air. "A fine day for what exactly?" he asked pointedly. "Freezing to my bones as I watch my bannermen beat themselves unconsciousness?"

"Exactly," Saesha replied, not rising to his rudeness. Silence it was then. She could not be bothered with this Bullshit just now.

"Still, I will not complain for the diversion," Tully continued, more tactfully, though his eyes were more focused on the almost complete port than the contenders getting ready to begin the free for all. "You have accomplished a great deal here in a short amount of time, certainly more than the Lothstons or even the Strongs before them. I would commend you husband for the progress, but I think we both know who deserves the lion's share of the credit."

Saesha paused briefly, as if trying to decide if she should reply or not, not currently wanting to play games. "I will be sure to give our tireless Masons your praise, my lord," she said replying, her words carefully chosen, looking over her port with a faintly fond look. "The King wishes to rebuild a war torn country, make it stronger, give it peace, Harrenhal can be a shining example of that, given a clear vision and a decided purpose." She looked to Tully to try and gauge his reaction.
"A stable God's eye, makes a more stable Riverlands and on and on and the port will hopefully increase trade on all of the Riverlands, to the benefit of everyone."

"Well, when my own masons are done repairing Riverrun's walls and towers, I will be sure to tell them there is always work to be found in Harrenhal," Medgar replied, genially enough. "I have always wondered what those towers looked like in their prime."
He made no discernible reaction to the talk of the King's peace, merely nodding, seeming to see the wisdom in her words. "Better a bad peace than a good war. Not that I have ever known a good war."
"Yes, not to mention it makes the trip to King's Landing even shorter. Am I right to assume you will be visiting your royal family after the port's completion?"
