"You may need to keep those masons on hand, after all," he quipped, finding no fault with her logic. "It is always refreshing to see a noble that seeks to thrive within their limits rather than over-reach." It was clear from the pointed statement here that he was not just speaking of the keep. "I see it more as what happens when you give a beggar a gold dragon. Nine times out of ten he will spend it all and be back on the streets in a week. The Ironborn came from a land without stone or timber, then found themselves in control of a great landmass with no shortage of either. Of course their first thought was to build a keep grander and more ambitious than any that came before." She wondered what Tully must make of Lord Piper, trying to move beyond his own. "Limits are there for a reason," she agreed with his statement, "lords are like liquids though, they will take the space of whatever limits they're given," She smiled to him. She lostened to his theory about the Iron born, "is there not also an element of pride though. They saw our keeps and showed that they would do one better, do all conquerors not do such? Build bigger and bigger to show they are better than what came before? common sense giving way to a desire for a legacy."

"The Wall, why?" Violet asked, surprised. "There is no place for women at the Wall, and what use is it simply to look at it? For myself, I had rather see some place pretty, like Highgarden. It's warmer too. But if you have the means to go, I suppose you should go where you most wish to." When the fighting started Almia could hardly help but stare. There was something beautiful about the chaos. "Highgarden is beautiful," She replied, speaking from experience, "Though my memory of the place is tainted." Almia did not care to go into details about what happened to her when she was traveling through the Reach. "But beauty is not only flowers and pretty dresses. I imagine a solid wall of ice that reaches the clouds would be an inspiring sight." "Are you not interested in seeing the wonders of Westeros?" She asked the question with pity in her voice. The thought of being locked in a keep raising children for the rest of her life was Almia's nightmare.

"Some places, maybe, but I know it's neither practical nor possible for me to travel the entire realm," Violet answered. "But that suits me fine. Truth be told, the Wall sounds rather frightening. There's nothing beautiful about fear. I had rather confine my travels to pretty places like the Riverlands and the Reach."

"There is beauty in overcoming fear," she replied pertly. "It is what drove the first Storm King to rebel against the gods. Without the fear of losing his beloved Elenei, Durran would never have conquered the storms of Shipwreck Bay. Without fear, Bran the Builder would have never built the Wall." She gave a sigh, "Even pretty places like the Riverlands and the Reach are to be feared. Look at this castle for seven's sake, it's a horror in its own right. But I'll be damned if I'm not going to try and find King Harren's ghost while I'm here." Almia gave Violet a wide grin, "And you're going to come with me."

Violet's eyes widened and she shivered. "This place is filled with ghosts, I think, though I've never seen one. The thought of meeting Lady Danelle's ghost frightens me more than Harren the Black."

Almia got goosebumps, born from excitement instead of fear. "How are you sure there are ghosts if you've never seen one?"

"It;s a feeling I get, like there is something watching me, or a sense of something ominous waiting to happen. It's just..." She shrugged. "Harrenhal. Sleep beneath our roof one night and you'll understand. The feelings come at night, especially."

Almia gave a shake from the shiver than ran up her spine. "That sounds delightful. Will you let me come stay with you? We can go visit the Tower of Dread and the Tower of Ghosts when the night is darkest." It sounded like a real adventure, Almia could hardly contain herself.

Violet was a little apprehensive about the idea yet she hadn't had the company of a female friend since leaving Harroway's Town.
"If you like. I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing Harrenhal at close quarters, at least. When? Tonight?"

"You are far more brave than you let on," she said, giving Violet a playful nudge. "Very well, tonight is as good a night as any I guess."

"The trouble is too few are self aware enough to understand the vessel that best fits them." Medgar replied, continuing the metaphor. "Far too often they see a thimble when given a goblet and demand a cask, always adamant they are overflowing the vessel provided." "Do all conquerors do such?" he echoed her question, rhetorically. "Did Aegon? I have always admired his restraint in that sense. Though I suppose it is easier for the Riverlands to admire the dragons. He may have been Aegon the Conqueror to the rest of Westeros, but here he was Aegon the Liberator."

I will arrange for a bed to be made up for you in my room and you must join me when you are free to do so. I have made a promise to my cousin Aelison, but am otherwise free to serve as your guide." Violet smiled warmly at her new friend.

"This is so exciting, I can hardly wait for the sun to go down." Almia said, smiling back to Violet. "Will your cousin be joining us on our little ghost hunt?"

"I doubt it," Violet replied with a little laugh. "Aelison does not seem the type to hunt ghosts. Though perhaps one day I shall ask her if her dogs sense anything eerie about Harrenhal. I've heard that animals can sense things we cannot."
