“We go to the meeting place” Barley said, “then we wait, choose a real leader, come back here and then burn it to the ground” she said and grinned darkly. She didn’t mind Pete being creepy towards her. He was creepy to everyone.

"We should rob this place before we burn it," Tim said. "We get our reward then Pete gets 'is. That's fair. Even if those two idiots don't get themselves killed, they ain't gonna get everythin' from the farm."

“I assumed the robbing went without saying,” she’d been talking to Pete and so, had focused on what he cared about. Fire. “But I suppose not”
She nodded at Tim, “Donal and Alyn can hang for I care right now.”

"Ohohoho..." Pete's quasi-orgasmic laugh when he heard the word burn was all he answered.

He glanced about their surroundings. "Should we find somewhere to hide the horses while we wait, in case Lychester's guards try to search for us?" "We could. Then we wait until Harlan and Vex arrive and decide what to do then. Keep hidden in case Lychester's guards are out and about." Alyn thought for a moment. He had been on the run for a while and had come to know the lie of the land reasonably well. "If the farm is not feasible to attack, we could head to Sanguine Isle to rest for a bit. It maybe whether the others are heading. From memory we can get the horses on the isle. There's only a few trees, but it is defendable, if there are guards chasing us." He quickly scanned the area around the farmstead to see if there was a suitable place to hide the horses. Observation: 21

"Good plan." Donal said, also looking around but failing to spot anything useful. He was hopeful Vex and Harlan would do the job and not be as cowardly as the others.

Harlan approached Old Bael’s farm from the woods, spotting Alyn and Donal as he approached the edge of the foliage. He was surprised to see them both, as he had assumed the worst. What surprised Harlan even more was that none of the other bandits were present. What had befallen them, was their luck as bad as Longinch’s?
“It’s good to see the two of you made it out with your heads, and with the armor no less.” Harlan said to Donal and Alyn as he emerged. “Where are the others?” He took a moment, not sure if he wanted to know the answer to his next questions, “Where in Bandy?”

"They killed bandy." Donal reported. "I fought some of them off but I couldn't stop them from killing him."
He scowled in the direction of the river. "The others came here but then wet themselves at the thought the job might be difficult and ran off. Alyn and I stayed to wait for you and see this job through."

"Fuck," he exclaimed, "What were the two of you thinking? You guys jumped into the bushes like madmen. I was convinced a swarm of bees had attacked you." He let out an audible sigh, not sure how to properly vent his anger. However, Harlan was never one to focus on a problem, instead he enjoyed finding solutions. "It may not be easy to pull this job without the rest of our gang. I don't suppose they told you were they were going, did they?"
Despite clearly being upset to learn of Bandy's passing, Harlan could not ignore Donal's obvious wound. Without asking for permission he began to tend to his companion, attempting to clean and bandage the wound properly to avoid infection.

Harlan manages to clean and bandage the largely superficial wound without issue. Donal might have to pay for a woman’s affections from now on, but things could be worse.

Alyn could have pointed out to Harlan, that it was not he who had been spotted by the Medway guardsmen, but decided to make no comment. However despite his mild annoyance, he nodded in approval at Harlan's deftness at cleaning and bandaging Donal's wound. Alyn winced as a stab of pain shot up in his own shoulder and neck as he was reminded of the lucky jab of the Medway guard he had killed.
When Harlan had finished his work on Donal, Alyn moved towards him. "That's a nice job you did on our one eared friend Harlan. I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at this and treat it." he pointed to his shoulder. "Lucky spear jab by one of the guards." Alyn smiled coldly at the memory of killing the guard. "He paid for it though."

Observation: 21 [/quote] (Success) The great willow tree was sufficient as both marker and barrier to detection. The sun had gone down during the argument and now the chances of the horses being spotted so clearly were quite unlikely. If Alyn was uncomfortable with their chances, there was a line of old birch trees much further away from the main buildings. It was a guaranteed hiding place, but it would leave their horses out of reach as well during the scouring of the property.

“It’s miraculous the two of you made it out of there alive,” said Harlan as he turned his attention to Alyn. “And with Longinch’s armor no less, well done.”
He grimaced as he looked over Alyn’s wounds. “It’s disheartening to me that the rest of the gang left the two of you behind in this conditions. Surely, Longinch dead or not, we’ve been together long enough to not abandone eachother when in need.” He began to patch up Alyn while he spoke.

Vex had arrived shortly after Harlan, leading her horse by the reins. She looked at Alyn and then Donal, and spat at the obvious lack of Bandy. "Shit," she said, giving Donal a look that possibly meant "should've been you".
"Well, no time to waste now. We better clean house quick and get the fuck out," she said, looking at the farm itself and trying to get a better idea about its inhabitants, or rather, how many there were.

Donal responded. "I doubt those guards would have looked at two men in armor on a horse with weapons and let us go on our merry way." He stood still while Harlan tended to his ear. "Thanks Harlan." He said when the man was finished. "The others didn't give me any help. They just spat at me and acted like I was some idiot. Stormed off in the boat without telling us where they were headed. I say fuck them. If we're doing this job we should split the gains between ourselves, not share it with cowards who ran away and left us to do all the work." Harlan may have been a rapist, but in Donal's eyes his proffered assistance made him a better person than the others who had insulted him and then run away. When Vex arrived, he for once found himself in agreement with her. "Glad you're joining us." He commented. "I agree. The sooner we get this gold the better, far as I'm concerned."
