Vex tied her horse to a tree right next to the small clearing and proceeded to do a quick perimeter check, seemingly busy, but keeping her ears open and catching bits of Boros' and Tim's conversation. She obviously had no way of knowing it, but if there was any truth to the old man's story, then he had to be a vastly different person to what she'd thought at first glance.
Satisfied with the site, she went back to her horse to pick up the map, bringing it to the campfire and unfolding it on the ground at a safe distance from the fire. She fished a silver and a copper from her pocket and placed them on the map to mark the probable location of the wagon at the border and their current location, respectively. "Gather 'round," she told them. "We do this the smart way." This one was mostly for those that had participated in their last job, though she supposed everyone responsible for the clusterfuck they'd been subjected to were dead by now. "We could block the road and ambush them on the way," she said. "Or we could ambush them at their camp or a tavern, should the opportunity present itself."

Sigfry looked at the old man with a raised brow as he sat, his sleeve rolled up as he worked on adjusted some of the straps which kept his left arm in place, seeing how chatty the man was about his past. Hearing the calling for plans, Sigfry rolled his sleeve back into place, walking over as he heard the plans proposed.
"The road could be the safest option..." Sigfry said as he contemplated the options, "Abushing them at camp means they'll have had time to prepare defenses before settling in. And a tavern could have any manner of dredge looking to prove themselves a hero, jumping into the fray."

"True..." said Vex, looking at Sigfry with an almost conspiratorial half-smile. "But not if we get to the tavern first. If they even stay at taverns, that is. We need to scout them first either way."

"Observe them first before making our move. Clever. We'll need to be fast though. We don't know how much ground they'll cover in a day's travel." Sigfry said. Vex's idea to head them off at their resting point was a good one. He actually had to respect how fiendish of an idea it was. She'd had experience, or was simply very quick on her feet, either trait one the wolf head could respect.

Tim walked over, food in hand.
"I think it's best to avoid trouble at a tavern," he suggested "We might want to drink at that tavern, one day. Better to ambush these fellers where there ain't eyes to see us. Best to get them when they're far from comfort or help o' any kind."

"On the road we pick the place and time, and have the advantage of setting the terrain to our liking. At their camp they will have had that luxury. Don't make this harder than it needs to be." Richard chimed in, not even deigning to comment on the tavern idea.

Harlan joined the others around Vex when she beckoned, at this point he’d given up rejecting her leadership; woman or not. He was mildly disappointed when she offered them options, instead of making the decision herself. He grimaced accordingly, and his mood lingered while he listened to the rest of the group deliberated.
When the stubborn man demanded a roadside ambush, Harlan raised his hand and spoke up. “Am I the only one that heard what Simon said? He told us there were going to be eight armored guards and a knight protecting that gold. Some of you may be fit from fighting in the war, but I’m no soldier.” He looked around at all of them, taking count one last time. “ If my eyes don’t betray me, we are already outnumbered. I’m not willing to throw myself on a sword so those who live through the slaughter get rich. We need to improve our odds in this fight. I’d be interested in hearing more about this ‘tavern,’ idea. The guard will need to eat, drink, and sleep, all of which offer opportunity to thin their ranks.”

"If you want to even the odds, going somewhere there are more potential opponents is the stupidest thing you could do." Richard commented aggressively.

"I agree," Tim said. "I don't know this fellow, Harlan, but 'e 'as the right o' it. You're right that we need to catch these men off guard, but not when there's other people around. W'ere more like to get caught that way. Mayhaps when they make camp."

“And where and when will that be?” Barley asked Tim, rolling her eyes.

Daven speaks up from his spot close by, "There are too many variables when opting for their camp or a Tavern, all we need by the road is the element of surprise and a good volley of arrows to weaken them before we engage in close quarters."

Richard nodded approvingly in Daven's direction.

“We need someone to try and find out heir usual stopping points. Speak to a guard who has done this stuff before, so we know.” Barley said, glancing at Daven. “We’ve recently lost several people, let’s try and minimise the losses this time. Shooting arrows at them, just means they know early they have been attacked, how many of us can use a bow?”

"How many men are we even looking at here?" He asks plainly, He missed the meeting in town because of watching perfectly safe horses. So he knew next to nothing about the job to begin with other then the words 'ambush' 'tavern' and 'camp'... "If I can shoot the leader before they know what the hell is going on, it gives us an advantage."

"Wait. You got hired to do an ambush and most of you don't know how to use a bow?" Richard asked. "Seven hells how did you land this job?"
