Symon, only vaguely recognizing the woman but noticing the lost look and the sigil on her clothes, swoops in and takes her arm as ceremoniously as he can. "I believe the camp you are looking for is this way, mi'lady." He says with a polite bow offering to guide her to the rest of the Blackfort men.

She hesitated a moment but something about the set of the man's features indicated he might be one of her many kinsmen, so she smiled politely at him, deciding to trust in his honour. At least initially.
"Thank you, ser. Might I know your name? I'm Violet Blackfort."

Edmure sat not far from his brother Belric, indulging himself with a cup of ale - a drink which he preferred to wine. He watched with interest as Hoster accosted his brother and then smiled as this long gone uncle whom he barely knew passed out. He knew Hoster's type. Opportunistic, unscrupulous and looking to use Belric to make his way up in the world. He made a mental note to himself to keep a close eye on his uncle's doings in the future.

"I am Symon Rivers." He says, answering her question. "One of the few men that have been with your family since the beginning of the war." He states, "I am one of the bastards that Ser Bruce begat into this world." He also says, not knowing what relation the lady was exactly to the family.

Violet almost wrinkled her nose at the thought of keeping company with a bastard, but then sternly told herself that this man was of her blood. She'd had small use for bastards in the past, since she'd spent so much time in the motherhouse, but it seemed likely that Belric would be in need of loyal men now, and a bastard could do much worse than fight for his trueborn kin.
"Oh, but you are my brother then," she said with feigned merriment. "Ser Bruce was my father. I don't believe we have ever met, though. Well met., Symon. Do you know my - our - brothers well? I have spent most of my recent years among septas and am not as well informed about our family as I should like."

Alice was not far behind Violet, wearing a simple brown dress. Her eyes were wide and full of wonder as she saw he city and the huge encampment around it. "It's incredible..." She whispered in awe, before looking to see who her sister was talking to.

"I am sure our brother knows more about me then I do of him, I'm just a bastard that happened to start fighting for him when the time came. I mostly hang around the poor trying to prepare them for coming battles." Symon states, leading her through the maze of tents and pavilions towards the Blackfort segment of the encamped army.

"Someone has to do it," Violet replied, since some response seemed to be required of her. "It can't be very pleasant, being told to pick up a spear when all you've ever known is a pitchfork. Thank the Seven I was spared such a fate!"
She smiled sweetly and looked around, a little awed. Life at the motherhouse, and in Harroway's Town, had not prepared her for the sight she now beheld. Even the magnificent shadow of Harrenhal, looming over her home town, lacked the wonder of the siege camp.
"So my brother Belric is a hero now. Are you a hero too, Symon?"

Symon watched as his half sister took in the sights around them, "I wouldn't say that I am anywhere close to a hero. Most of the folks around here know me as the man that endlessly points out what I think they can be doing better, not one of the one's that are dependent on doing most of the killing." He states with a satisfied sigh. "As long as we have less deaths then the other side, and our dear brother comes out in favor of the noble lords. I shall consider my role in things to come fulfilled."

This time Violet did wrinkle her nose, at her bastard brother's poor grammar. It's fewer deaths, not less, she thought, the septas having drilled such lessons into her at a young age.
"So you spend most of your time training others," she murmured. "But you must have done some fighting, surely? Have you slain anyone of import?"

"During the battles I mainly found myself in with the common folk." He states purposefully looking away as he notices the look of disdain on her face. "Not really much chance to battle a lord or well known knight if you are part of the masses."

"I suppose not. But there's nothing to stop a mass of common men from attacking a lord, surely? I should think the common people have more reason than any to hate the high lords. They wear such bright clothing, they must present such an obvious target."
She wasn't sure why she was pressing the issue, except that she longed to hear some tale of heroics and this was the first among their own men she had spoken to.

"We could, but if the opposing army is also trying to attack our lords and champions on the field, we are there to intercept them. It causes nothing but a mass of men each trying to distract the other by killing each other. Meanwhile the lords themselves are able to push further in to get to those they know will bring glory if they are able to slay them." Symon states.

She knew very little about warfare but it seemed a good idea to listen to those who had actually experienced it, so she nodded and looked thoughtful.
"I am sure you are right," she agreed. "I am but a girl and know nothing of battle. Is our brother Belric as great a hero as I've heard?"

"That and more." Symon answered, "I have seen him be gracious to those who yield to his blade, as well as be the swift sword of justice to those who refuse to accept defeat at the hands of a better swordsman. Both traits are a welcome sight, though some think death is the only possible outcome of a fight." Symon says with a hint of dismay in his voice, "I believe those who think that way don't value the life of a person, either noble or peasant." He says with a hint of sorrow.
