Alice had never really met anyone who wasn't from Harroway's or a low born person visiting it but she could only imagine what the real nobles thought of people like them. She knew of course that her brother was a hero, that through him they were now a house with a big castle and a rich name but it didn't really seem real to her. They were still the same people - a family born low who had more in common with the smallfolk than the nobility.
"I don't know... I hope you are right," she told Violet. "They'll talk about the way we speak and the clothes we wear, I just know it!"

"We'll learn to speak like the high ladies," Violet said, confidently. "And we can learn how to dress from them too.. I know, I'll find us a patroness. Some lady who will treat us like her own daughters and teach us how to dress and how to meet the best people. Perhaps a widow who has only sons."
Her eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "I knew some highborn girls at Bechester. Some of them went off to be married. I'll try to find them again. They were like sisters to me."

Alice frowned at the concept of a patroness, or being taught how to act and dress noble. Well, perhaps not the dressing. She had seen a few beautiful dresses in her life and was looking forward to trying them on.
"Ya think they will be at the feast?" Alice asked. "I guess they should be, as it looks like everyone in the seven kingdoms will be here." She thought on something for a moment. "Do send me letters and tell me what Harrenhal is like. We've all heard stories about it but... well, I think I'm a little glad I don't have ta live there."

Violet wrinkled her nose. "You think the ghosts of Harrenhal are real? I don't, it's just a silly story to frighten naughty children. I think Harrenhal looks rather gloomy, but I only ever saw it from outside. I expect it's comfortable enough inside."
She brushed down her skirts. "I am a little bit jealous of you, though. King's Landing will be so glorious. You'll get to be around all the important people."

Alice nodded. "I would rather live in King's Landing then Harrenhal, even if it is much bigger than Harroway's. I can't imagine Harrenhal as comfortable... it's so huge and dark and gloomy!" She shivered a little at the thought of the large castle. "I can't wait to see what the Red Keep looks like but it's a bit scary thinkin' I will be living among all those important people. I hope the queen likes me!"

"I shall pay to the Mother that she does," Violet promised. "But you know, it must be awfully hard to be a queen, never knowing who you can trust and who just wants to take advantage of the power you have. Be her loyal servant, and her friend - her true friend - and Her Grace must surely love you."
She paused to smile briefly at her sister. "If nothing else, at least you will be a breath of fresh air from all those court ladies. And the Queen is a foreigner, isn't she? She wasn't raised to expect a crown. She might feel as out of place as you do."

"Hmm, you may be right!" Alice said with a sudden grin. "I don't really know much about the queen; where is she from?" Alice had tried to find out as much as she could when she found out she would be the queen's lady in waiting but barring her name all she was told were rumours and exaggerations.
"At least I won't be alone," she added. "I think Belric has assigned a knight to look after me and uncle Richard will be there as well."

"That's good," Violet said, without much interested in who Alice's companions were to be. After all, she hadn't seen Uncle Richard for years. "The Queen is a noble lady from Tyrosh. Um..."
A moment of hesitation before Violet said quietly "You will need to learn these things, Alice. Her Grace will expect you to know."

"I've been trying but nobody back home knows any of these things," Alice said a little defensively. "I will ask Belric when we see him; he'll be able to tell me." She remained silent for a moment as they walked along, taking in the surroundings. "I hope the knights will find me pretty," she finally said, thinking of how popular she had been at the tavern; mostly because of her looks.

That made Violet laugh. "They'll be fools or blind men if they don't! That's the least of your worries, I promise. And in a fine gown, nobody would know you weren't a proper lady."
At least, not before she spoke, at any rate. But that was a risk they all ran.
" Look, find a septon or a maester once we get to the Red Keep. Or a septa. They all know so many things we don't. I'm sure you can find someone to help you."

Tallahar let a visible sigh and looked at Belric with astonishment, "You wish to continue fighting brother? We have done our part we have placed the rightful King upon the Iron Throne. The Targaryens are the past, Daemon and House Blackfyre are the future for Westeros." The bastard put an emphasis on the word Westeros. "Tired of fighting? Nay brother, it's what I was born for." Belric slapped his knee with jovial excitement, "Be a right side better than rotting away in some tower..." Hoster's impromptu awakening broke Belric's train of thought. He did what he could understand his uncles ramblings, but found himself unable to decipher the slurs. Belric had a good ear for drunk speak, having spent so much time around soldiers, however Hoster was a man who had earned his reputation. "Uncle, I' dont think you've had enough to drink. I still can't understand a word yer saying" he said through a thunderous laugh. It was then that Belric noticed something out of place. He saw the soft features of a woman, his sisters Alice and Violet appearing from within the crowed. They were being led by Simon Rivers, Belric's younger bastard brother, the two girls deep in conversation. "Alice, Violet!" He yelled, his voice deep and harrowing. Belric stood up, ready to greet his sisters.

Ser Harlan, who'd strategically taken a seat on the other side of Belric rather than sit next to the stablemaster noticed the sisters and gave them a bow of courtesy, wondering which one he was to look after in the time to come.

Alice was about to respond to her sister when she heard their names being called. She looked up and saw their brother, looking so much older than she remembered. Older and wearier but again perhaps that was just the effect of time on the memory.
"Belric!" She called out and leaped towards him to embrace him in a big hug. "Belric it's been so long!!! You have to tell us everything!!" She looked up at her older brother with pride. "It must have been terrifying facing Bloodraven. Are you well? Oh there's so much to talk about!"

Violet came forward with more restraint than her sister. After all, she barely knew her brother. She tripped forward on dainty feet, feeli g suddenly nervous of this fierce-looking stranger who was the head of the family.
"Greetings, Belric. I've heard so much about you."

Belric scooped Alice into his embrace, "I am well sister. The terrors of war are now just memories. There will be plenty of time for stories." He released her from his bear hug, holding her at an arms length so he could get a better look at her. "You have grown since I saw you last. Mother would be proud."
Noticing Violet's timidity, Belric stifled his enthusiasm, taking the reserved approach. "Violet, it has been a long time. I would hardly have recognized you had it not been for your dark hair and that Alice was in your company." Perhaps it was the wine, or the spirit of celebration, but Belric could hardly contain himself. A wicked smile crept across his face and like lightning he threw his arms around Violet in a powerful hug. "Ahh, come here and give your ol' brother a proper greeting!"
