Richard would look for the Fireball in the rare time that the lord commander trained.

He finds the Lord Commander practicing with Ser Sebastian Florent. Ser Sebastian is justly considered a master swordsman, though strangers tend to draw more attention to his missing nose than his reknowned skill. Today though, he is receiving two blows for each one he lands on his fellow Reachman. The padding and wooden swords only do so much to reduce the number of bruises he will have after this match. Ser Sebastian's technique is nearly flawless, but Fireball's speed is simply too much.
Nearby, the King himself watches, shirtless and already covered in sweat despite the frost. He is drinking a canteen of water when he sees Ser Richard, and nods to him in greeting before returning his attention to the match.
When the mock duel ends, Fireball slaps his opponent on the back and laughs. Instead of joining his liege, he walks towards Richard. "Cleansed the city of corruption and vice yet? I should hope you left a few brothels or there will really be panic in the streets!"

Richard puts a hand over his heart, a expression of fake-shock on his face "What? Why would I ever do such a thing? If we took such matters to a end, the city would lose three quarters of its business and people!" he laughed. "But no. Though the signs of the reds are still there. I won't take my leave day until we are certain though."

"Good man." He nodded in the direction of Ser Sebastian, who was chatting with the King. "Pity the greyscale didn't claim that man's prick or I'd have offered your spot to him instead. He'd be the perfect Kingsguard."

"He's better than me. No doubt. But I wish to change that if I can. I'm not at your level Lord Commander, but you could at least help me get closer." said the knight honestly "If time permits, I'd like to do whatever I can to improve."

Fireball took a sip of water before gesturing to the rack of padded leather jerkins and training blades. "Prepare yourself. You know, I was master-at-arms under Fat Aegon. First position I was ever proud of. And Daemon Waters was the first student I was ever proud of."

Richard sighed inwardly, but he had asked for it and needed this. But it was gonna hurt. A lot. He got the leather jerkin on and swung blunt blades a few times as he got used to the weight. He had to try, to at least think he could give the man some challenge. But after that speed... heh. He'd settle for surviving 5 seconds. "I had heard. And heard you beat your trainee's savage for any mistake. What they needed."

"Duels are rare in a real battle. More often, it's five different blokes with piss poor training coming at you. You may be able to parry one or two blows without thinking, but unless you're fast enough and ruthless enough, those other three will run you through the moment they see you're distracted." Fireball ran his left hand through his bright red hair before resting it on his hip. "Now come at me. No mercy."

Richard narrowed his eyes and twirled his swords once, listening to the man but not too closely. He had fought in every engagement of the war that Daemon had after Redgrasss, he knew war. It was luck, so much more than maybe Fireball believed, that allowed any man to survive in the dirt and scrum.
He moved forward, fast. That had been his edge, his knack over any of his brothers or nephews. They were big and strong, meaty fellows. But they lacked speed. Here though, he was outmatched in that department. He drove in hard with one blade, maybe trusting that the man would think he'd be cautious and slow. The other sword a constant threat.

Round One
The Lord Commander sidestepped in the last instant, waiting until Richard was so close he could simply jab his weapon hard into his brother's gut. The move knocked the air out of Richard, the distraction enabling Fireball to whack him hard in his padded left arm.
While Richard should be attempting to collect his intestines with his remaining hand, Fireball declared, "Almost took my head just now, Blackfort. Don't think you'll get that close next time."
('Medium Wound' for Richard. In real combat, that would be a Heavy Wound.)

Richard sucked in a breath, and got to his feet again, all initial confidence gone. "Oh really?" he managed to say after a second "it would be bad sport if you had been that easy, but let's see if I can surprise you" Richard took a step back, collected himself, then advance again at slow methodical pace.
He would layer attack upon attack now, feet steadily advancing while his swords alternated their blows, swinging swiftly each time. A pattern would form, but he'd break it after the third or fourth each time, going in hard with both swords.

Round Two
Fireball parries most of the attacks, and those that merely graze him due to his superior agility. However, Richard's coordination and speed keeps the Lord Commander from landing his own serious blows.
"Much better! There's the man who killed Breakspear!"

"He did not see me. Luck" Richard grunted as he continued the barrage of attacks, not able to let that go even when he really, really should at this point. His chest ached, but it would be unwise to consider slowing down at this point. The man was off put by the attacks, and Richard did not know what to do at this point. His speed had enabled him to win duels easily before, but this man matched him. It was strange to watch the Fireball, as his nature in all things took over whenever Quentyn got serious.
Flippant, laughing, joking one second, then the beast came, the rage that burned at the heart of the man. He switched between them so easily, and it was the joker he was facing now. Controlled, collected, but the beast was rattling at its cage. And it knew how to pick the lock.

Round Three
"Okay, I'm bored." Fireball blocked the practice sword in Richard's off hand. With the weapon's momentum lost, the Lord Commander plucked it from his brother's hand as easily as removing a child's toy and then immediately struck his brother's leg with it, forcing him to kneel. Fireball's original sword then slid across Richard's throat like a lover's caress. "And you're dead again, Blackfort." He dropped Richard's sword in front of him.
('Heavy Wound' to Richard. In real battle, you would be quite dead.)

Richard stayed kneeling, then looked to Ball "what could I have done with that? That twist in the sword that disarmed, who taught you to use it that way?"
