"I did." His Grace stood nearby, wearing an open shirt as he prepared to go do whatever kings do. "And it's a silly move unless you're wearing a sturdy gauntlet."

"For a knight then, it might be very useful indeed" remarks Richard as he gets to his feet " we do have a tendency to have heavy gauntlets." He recovers the wooden swords from the ground.
"Could you show me again, slower?" He asks Quentyn, assuming the stance he had right before he was disarmed.

"It's a simple move, just bloody mad." Fireball guided him through the move with the finesse of an angry dancing instructor. "When my blade strikes yours, there's a rattle in your arm as I break your momentum and for a split second, your grip slips. That's when I grasp the blade like so and wrestle it away. And then I beat like an unwanted bastard at a wedding feast."

"Could I then, hmmm, maybe loosen the grip in anticipation, then tighten it when you come in for the afterblow? Assuming I know what's going to happen... It would keep the sword in my hand, then let me come right in again. Wouldn't let me use it to win, but would at least let me continue."
He tried doing what he had spoke of, at normal speed.

"You could, aye. Though you could also just invest in a good sword guard." Fireball laughed. "Now if you don't mind, I have to get back to babysitting." The Lord Commander began moving towards his page Elric, who prepared to help him into his white armor.
Ser Sebastian and the newly arrived Lord Arnold Reyne were now chit chatting. His Grace found Reyne's affable attitude and financial support invaluable in an ally, but regularly bemoaned the man's grasping nature and fervent isolationism. His Grace shortly joined them.

Richard will bid farewell to the Lord Commander before silently joining the small knot of men. He greeted them courteously before settling back to listen for now.

His Grace and Lord Reyne paid him no mind, but Ser Sebastian gave him a friendly nod.
"Congratulations, Your Grace! I just heard from Lord Hightower that Medgar Tully finally admitted defeat!" Lord Reyne seemed as full of life as always. "Always figured he his legs would be broken before they were bent."
The King nodded. "I count my blessings Maekar Targaryen held King's Landing and not Medgar Tully. Otherwise, we'd all still be camped outside the city." He turned to look at Richard. "Your nephew will have to do his own kneeling soon. I hope his new master forgets all the blood your family spilled on his doorstep."

Said Richard "as long as my nephews pride does not get in the way, I would hope Lord Tullly would not let the past influence the mending if the realm." Richards voice did not have much hope in it though. His nephew had gotten quite... Prideful since Redgrass.

"Pride is a terrible poison. Few poisons are so effective at keeping a man from healing as pride." The King nodded thoughtfully, before lowering his voice. "Lord Reyne, any word from the West?"
"Indeed, Your Grace. Damon Lannister has sent his troops home as promised. If my cousin is to make war on House Blackfyre, it's not with his troops."
His Grace frowned. "I think I slept better when my enemies were more obvious. Keep your eyes on the other high houses as well. And Lannisport. Do you still have agents there?"
"Indeed, Your Grace. Though I suspect he still keeps his own in this very city."
The King studied the Lord of Castamere. "You see his hand in these revolts?"
"Aye, Your Grace. He sat on the Small Council during the war. Perhaps he is the one orchestrating this current madness."
His Grace nodded. "Perhaps. But I have always known Damon Lannister to be a very foolhardy man. He could barely lead a proper charge, much less a coup. It would take a phenomenal spymaster to get knocked on his backside so many times for the sake of a ruse."
Reyne laughed. "Quite, Your Grace!"
"Now, I need to tend to my family. I wish you a pleasant evening." He left the yard with Fireball, leaving Richard with Lord Reyne and Ser Sebastian.

After the king had left, Richard turned to the two men. He had come here for a real workout, and while his bout with the Fireball had been intense, it had been rather... short. He still needed a release for this energy he'd had. Standing around was great and all, but seriously. A man needed to smash things with his sword sometimes (Hey! Phrasing)
"Would either of you want to have a bout?" he asked the two "If you win, you can say you beat a kingsguard. And you don't have to mention which one" he said with a hint of a smile "Let them think it was someone much more impressive."

"Hey, who do you think taught my boy Robb to fight?" Laughed Lord Reyne. While it was undeniable that Arnold Reyne was no novice with the blade, Richard's brother in arms had confided at least once that he was trained by the best master at arms his father's coin could find.
"I'll have another go, if you're rested" Declared the Florent. "I am also owed a proper victory after a shaming by the red menace, I think."

"I think I am well enough now" says the man after stretching for a little bit. he hopped lightly on his feet before retrieving his swords and entering the ring. "At your leisure, Ser" he says to Sebastion.

Sebastian picked up a sturdy round wooden shield to go with his own blade. He was nowhere near as fast as Fireball, but what he lacked in raw skill, he made up for in focus and patience. His first blow was a simple feint to start the action and he had his shield moving into place before Richard even thought to strike.
The duel would last much longer with fewer direct blows landed. If battling the Lord Commander was like battling a storm, battling the Knight of Brightwater Keep was like laying siege to Storm's End itself.
Ser Sebastian also found his sword arm lacking, and Richard regularly parried away any serious blows. It was hardly a slow or dull match though, simply a very even one thus far. (No wounds inflicted by either side.)

Richard gave a short laugh, backing away and walking a slow circuit of the man. This was more his skill maybe, though Sebastian had faced Fireball much more ably than he had. He swung in again, twin blades probing for a weakness in the mans defense.
He may seem like Storms End, but no man was a castle. There were always gaps in the defense. Like elbows. Tricky thing elbows.

And true to his stratagem, he scores a hearty whack on his opponent's sword arm. The other knight in turn takes a more aggressive stance, switching from merely blocking blows to using his shield as a ram. Ser Sebastian remains patient in his maneuvers, never letting a seemingly easy target or clever feint distract him from the final victory. Richard lacks the speed to overwhelm him like Fireball did, but is quick enough on his feet to avoid being pounded into the mud by that blasted shield. (Light Wound to Ser Sebastian Florent.)
