"Eventually, yes. I don't know when it will be, but there's no harm in starting to prepare. Oh, this is wonderful!"
She smiled sweetly, and , entering the room, stretched eager fingers towards the fabric, revelling in their smooth softness.
"The weding gown should be deep red, with black and white for the accent colours, but I am also looking for some gowns in jewel tones. And..." she hesitzted, blinked as tears threatened to fall. "I need a couple of mourning gowns." She paused then said quietly "My little brother died." She rubbed at her eyes.

"Oh, you poor dear!" Presuming to lay hands on her, Sansa lead her to a small table by the window. "I have some hot tea brewing. Just a moment, my lady."
Soon, there was a hot cup in front of Violet. "I remember when my Harry died, I remember wishing I had someone who would give me some warm tea and a friendly ear."

"Thank you." Violet clasped grateful hands around the tea and felt her eyes stinging at the kindness. She sipped the tea as she fought to composure herself.
"Poor Nyles, he was too young, and too far from home. He must have felt so lonely, dying away from his family. Part of me wishes I was with him when it happens, but I'd probably be dead too." She blinked again, took another sip of tea. "Who is - was - Harry?" She asked.

"My husband, milady. Died in the war five years ago, when we still fought under the black dragon. And you mustn't think black thoughts like that! He would have wanted you to think of yourself and the rest of your family. Life is for the living. The dead die to make sure the living stays worth it."

"I know," Violet sighed. "But it's still unfair that Nyles had to die so young. And our parents are gone too."
She sipped her tea. "Do you have children, Sansa?"

"No, my lady. Not children as such. Just my cats." She gestured to a basket in the corner where one might sleep. "And I think, my lady, that you must steel yourself for more tragedy in this world. I know not who you expect to wed, but I should expect a dowry of tears, and so better cherish what happiness the Seven bring you."

Violet winced. She was starting to quite like Sansa and thr harsh comment startled her. She didn't know how to react. "But...why?"

"Because life is very hard for women in this world, my lady. Even highborn ones. Now..." She stood.
"Let's see if we can impress that husband of yours. I have some designs I think will greatly suit black and red."

"Oh good." The thought of new clothes rallied Violet, as it always did. She shoved the thought of difficult lives to the back of her mind. After all, men didn't necessarily have it easy either.
"I expect I'll need clothes for all sorts of occasions after I'm married. Some will need to be fancy, others less so. But my brother is to hold a tourney, so I'll need a fine dress for that as well."

Sansa studied the lady's frame with more attention than was appropriate in other circumstances. "Yes... Something for the tourney. Something modest, I think, for a betrothed woman. And it is a tad chilly to display your assets anyway." She said thoughtfully, pencil in hand.

"Of course. Velvet would be good," Violet suggested. "How about dark green. And a cloak to go with it, some kind of fur lined with green satin, as close a match as you can get to the dress."
She paused to sip her drink. "Were you born in this town, Sansa?"

"I was, milady. My mother was likewise a seamstress for old Lord Lothston's wife. Taught me all I know to do with these hands for sake of coin." She searches through her inventory. "I have the green satin right here. And I can check what furs I have in stock. I'm thinking black wolf fur, if I have it. And if he anyone gives you lip about it, just you point out that all the Starks did was sew a picture of a mutt while the rest of us still have to survive the winter!"

Violet had to smile. "I doubt anyone around here cares very much about the Starks. I wouldn't want to suffer a Northern winter though. I wish it were warmer already! The Starks can keep their snows and their direwolves."

"Aye, well, I suppose I could also cover you with more feathers than a chicken farm, but it don't seem right..." She lead her to a small crate by a mirror and had her pose on it so Sansa could collect her measurements.

"Oh, I still want the fur trimming on my cloak," Violet said. "But that's as close as I wish to get to a wolf."
She posed obediently while her measurements were taken.
