Arya laughed before countering, "The tools may be similar, but the purposes are distinct. A man does not brag to a lady how skillfully he hath poked another man and left him gasping for air upon his backside. Certainly, it can be said that to grip the horse with your legs might serve as practice for a different steed, but not all mares come with stirrups. Certainly not all mares are so easily managed when in heat." Visenya grinned at Willem. "Well... Those particular skills served your lord well enough. Perhaps another war will break out soon and another sworn sword will earn his own castle. Such are the fortunes of talented men. Not always... But often." "That is a fair point. But I must point out, and this may shock you," Willis gave an exaggerated look to both sides and continued in a stage whisper, one hand at the side of his mouth as if he were telling a great secret, "House Blackfort was not always so well off, and I was once just a poor hedge knight." He returned to a normal speaking voice. "And as it happens, I have on an occasion or two lost my saddle and stirrups to a bet or a joust. Rarely could afford more than one horse, and if she was a mare in heat then I'd have to ride her just the same. Daresay that if she didn't toss me in the dirt, then I can hold my own on a smaller, smoother ride."

Yesult is lurking about the room unobtrusively. Helping serve food and fill glasses the usual serving staff stuff.
She goes dead still upon seeing the Tully's and steeling herself after some long moments she focuses her attention to keeping to the opposite end of the table from them. Serving her Mistress as required when needed.
She occasionally worries at her bottem lip as she conciders her options.. hoping and praying she is not caught alone.. or better still gets the chance to sneakly damage the coward who damaged her.
She concentrates on being as efficent and unseen as possible as to not draw certian peoples attention.

Willem nodded at Willis' remarks, before addressing Visenya in turn. "Ser Willis has the right of it. Both our House and ourselves have already risen far based on talent. There is no reason that should not continue. When faced with a choice between a man who has titles but not the skill to keep them and a man on the rise, one might think there's worth in choosing the skilled."

"As far as I'm concerned it is. I'll try talking with them when this farce is hidden behind our performances in the tourney." Jormun turned towards the entrance of the great hall, releasing a quiet sigh. "I need a hunt." Dacey nodded. "I'm with you," she said, giving the hall another once-over before turning to leave as well. "Speaking of hunting, how is that bear of yours? Are you training him or leaving him for the pit?" she inquired.

"I'm undecided, at the moment. We could put any bear in that pit, but having a cub to train is different- especially if it's Olaf's. I'm thinking I'll keep him." Jormun nodded to himself, having apparently made his mind up at that moment. "If you've an interest, you can train him with me."

Arya wrinkled her nose, while restraining a chuckle. "I am no longer certain, Ser Willis, whether we are dabbling in the realm of metaphor, innuendo, or confession."
"I believe, cousin, Ser Willis is implying he is a better lover than a horseman." declared Visenya.
Arya covered her mouth as she gave a mock gasp and then flapped her hand to provide air."By the Seven! I feel I shall faint! To be spoken to so! If talented men are so vulgar, I fear we shall be wed to septons, Visenya!"
"That may indeed happen, if your bitch of a sister has her way."
"Hush, Visenya. She could not be so wretched. Or so deaf."
In unison, they looked at the Lady Alynna Tully, who sat with her disfigured sworn shield. She was eating grapes, and was watching her husband intently as he quietly sparred with their host.
Visenya looked back at Willem. "I fear your breeding puts you at a disadvantage. I know bastards may be the thing to be in King's Landing, but if you desire my scarf or hand in marriage, you're a few decades behind in the running. Still... it's a long tourney... and I hear your masters know the king personally..."

"It was your cousin who brought up the matter of talented men if I recall right, Lady Arya. Turnabout is usually considered fair play." Willis was clearly enjoying the conversation. "But if you feel faint, I'd be more than happy to take you out for a breath of fresh air. Won't even talk vulgar, unless you ask nicely."

He quickly replaced it with a false smile, but not fast enough for it to not be obvious he had been surprised by Visenya's comment. "You know of my parentage, my lady?" He inquired. "I had not thought myself to be a person of enough note for my name to have travelled so far as the Twins. I suppose I should be flattered by that."

"I appreciate you leaving that sacrifice for me to make. Perhaps I'll have Aelison undertake the task, so somebody useful doesn't get hurt."

Visenya grinned. "Did you not spend three years huddling in the same castle as my cousin? Did you not abandon her husband's service and promptly join the household of a family she despises? And did you not think word of this would reach her? Most of our family may live at the Twins, but the Crossing has been ruled from Riverrun for a few years now."
Arya murmured softly to Willis, "I believe this obscenely large room is giving me vertigo. Would you be so chivalrous as to escort us somewhere with stars?"

"Of course," Willis answered, offering her an arm. He led Arya toward an exit, refreshing their drinks along the way, "Do you mind heights? The ramparts give a nice view."

"Abandon is a strong word, my lady." Willem replied, looking a little uncomfortable at the idea the reds now held him in low regard. "The war was over. I did my duty to Lord Smallwood. I still hold him in high regard. But ought one not put family first all things considered? It's hardly as if House Tully and my kin are at war. Were that the case then abandonment it would have been."

"Or perhaps I just have complete faith in you," replied Dacey in a similar tone. "You've successfully trained wild animals before. It'd be quite nice to have a pet bear, not to mention useful."

"Perhaps the cub and Happy might even get along. Or he'll try to fly off with the cub as a meal, again. If we're to train it, it should at least have a name. Suggestions?"
