" He might. We need to keep our vassals friendly and what better way to do that than marriage? Give them Blackfort blood in their future and we keep them loyal."

"I don't know... I think Belric will stand by his decision to wed me to whoever wins the tourney."

After a moment's thought Violet asked "But has he informed the contestants? I've not heard any announcements, and surely the news would be all over the castle if it had been spoken of outside of yourself and Belric."
She frowned. "it's very odd, Aelison, you must see that. What if the victor does not wish to be married? What if he is already betrothed? A man cannot break a betrothal contract without consequences."

"To my knowledge, it all maybe a cruel joke", she laughed,"and Belric never said a thing about it."
"Maybe it's all a jape?", she shrugged. "But Violet, if your not too terribly busy...", She paused,"Would you accompany me to meet the new visiting Lords before the tourney is over"

"Gladly," Violet said. "I need to pay my respects where I can, anyway. Who do you wish to start with? I feel I ought speak to my husband and his family alone, but I am happy to join you for other visits."

Aelison smiled,"I thank you."
Then she instantly grew a bit worried,"Do you think it wise if I met them in pants, Instead of a dress?"
'I don't have a proper one and the one I did own was very uncomfortable. I couldn't breathe in the damned thing."

Violet frowned, thinking. After a moment she spoke, a little dubious.
"I don;t mind if you wear breeches but we don't know what the high lords will think. You might be able to borrow one of my dresses, if we choose carefully. Something simple, I think, since you're not used to fine gowns. My simpler gowns don't have tight lacing and we can dress it up with a pretty girdle and perhaps a flower in your hair. I've got a dark blue that might suit you. It's fine wool, plain but very soft to wear."

The mention of the flower made her grimace, but if this is what needed to be done. Aelison nodded, taking in a breath,"Alright."
"How about I meet you after the melee a pied.. hopefully I'll still have all my teeth and I won't be bloodied too badly', she chuckled.

"You can take a bath and visit the maester if you need to," Violet pointed out. "But yes, I'll go with you, if you're not hurt. But who do you want to visit? The Shorehams, or someone else?"

"I will be sure to cost the master first thing,"she replied.
Aelison thought for a second, she didn't to make it too obvious to the Shorehams her feelings,"Let's start with the Mallisters, then maybe the Tullys, and after that we'll see what's next."
"How's that?"

"Um...I think we should avoid the Tullys for the moment," Violet suggested. "Our relations with them are not great, and you're not accustomed to highborn company yet. I'm sure we can talk to them at the events, though. That will be more comfortable for you than making a personal visit."

"Alright, I'll trust your judgement on this one,"she grinned,"just point me in the right direction."

"I will," Violet promised. "Meet me at my room after the event - as soon as you're free - and we'll get you dressed up nicely. You'll be a fair maid for sure."

"I'm sure it will," Violet replied. She took up her own glass. "To success."
