"It was very confusing and very frightening," Violet said. "I thought I was going to die, truly. I've told you everything I can. I just...I had no idea. I shouldn't have gone, I know that now, but I wanted to see Edmure off. I didn't think anyone else would care to go with him, not after everything that happened." She had to bite her lip again.
She remembered with a pang that Edmure had said some unpleasant things about Saesha , blaming her for Belric's recent actions. She thought anger and bitterness had something to do with that. He'd borne a grudge against other members of their family too, though some of it was likely justified, as far as Violet knew. And then she clasped her hands together, remembering the awful decision she had been forced to make.
"Edmure died bravely, Brandon and the others too," she said. "I will tell Belric that."

Saesha looked at her for a long moment then nodded, "As you say. Get some rest, I am sure you need it."
She left, thinking on the strangeness of the day so far.

Once the bath wad ready, Violet climbered eagerly into it and relaxed. It wasn't until later, when her maid was drying her off, that she realised the dress Saesha had laid out for her was one of those she gad taken on her travels. That troubled her, but she decided to keep her concerns to herself.

4th day, 5th moon evening
Aelison arrived at Violet's chambers, still enthused from her earlier activities. She breathed nervously as she knocked,"I can only hope for the best."

The door was opened by the maid, Violet welcomed her cousin with a friendly smile; she was already dressed in a fresh gown.
"Aelison, come in. Would you like a glass of wine, for courage"? Her eyes sparkled as she asked the question. She knew they were stepping into uncharted territory.

Stepping with a stained smile and a slight limp,"Yes please, wine wild do just fine for this very rare occasion." Aelison looked at her gown,"that is very pretty on you."

"Thank you." The gown was forest green decorated with silver flowers on the tight sleeve. Violet had sewn the flowers on herself, enhancing a gown that had once been no more than ordinary, A wide silver girdle cinched in her waist.
"Alright, let's think about you. I thought you might suit this one." She walked over to the bed where a dark blue gown had been laid out. It had wide, flaring skirts but was otherwise quite plain. "Do you like it? If not, we could try something without such wide skirts. My dark red, maybe?"
She indicated a deep red gown that lay nearby.

"I'll try them both", she shrugged, grinning,"I'll need your second pair of eyes to tell if it looks proper."
She began to put on the blue dress, making sure her hair was not in the way.
"How do I look?"

"It looks fine to me," Violet answered. "How do you feel? Try to walk like a lady. Remember, you need to take small steps."

Walk like a lady, she said. Ha, Aelison was used to wearing hunting boots and stomping with the big dogs (literally). This was new territory, wearing nice gowns and being put out for the world to see.
She stepped out, making she her back was straight and her head was up. She didn't know what to do with her hands, so she placed straight against her sides. If uncomfortable was the word she was looking for, she found it.

Violet frowned critically. "We need to get you deportment lessons with a septa, if you intend to enter courtly life. I'm sorry, Aelison, but you don't look comfortable at all. We might have to think about this a bit more. You'll stand out all the more for your discomfort."

She nodded, feeling a little dejected but Violet may have been right. "Well that can be done once the tourney is over and we find a septa. For now, I'd like to meet who my intended may be while they are here."
Slowly removing the dress, as to not damage it. "I know first impressions are important but this is something I need to do."

"Yes. I understand that, but I think we need to play to your strengths, too."
Violet paced around the room, thinking. "What if we find something that looks more like a very long tunic? You could try the red gown or... you might be more comfortable in something less obviously like a gown. The red gown isn't quite long enough. I wonder..."

"Violet.... Violet", Aelison tried to interrupt,"I'm not a prude, I can show my l legs."
"I just want to be comfortable and presentable."

"We could try the red one." Violet replied. "I don't think I've got anything else that would suit you. After we're married I'll take you to a seamstress and we can get some gowns made particularly to your requirements. Seamstresses know how to make a customer appear to her best advantage."
