"To speak with Lord Mallister and his daughter, if you still wish tom" Violet answered. "Unless you would prefer to speak with the Shorehams? Has your...friend seen you in a dress?"
Somehow, she thought not, and the prospect of shocking the object of Aelison's affection amused her.

"Let's go see the Mallisters", she grinned,"I want to save Hoster for last", she smiled affectionately. "I think he would rather enjoy it."
"Oh and by Saesha's suggestion", her nose wrinkled a little,"I will be moving into new chambers inside the keep as soon as possible.. To aid in my becoming a proper Lady", she chuckled.

"Oh, that's a good idea," Violet murmured. "You belong with the rest of us, now. It wouldn't do for your future husband to see your old quarters, after all."

She looked at Violet for second, wondering what was wrong with her cottage. It was more than what she had really ever had, and it was her's, no strings attached thanks to Belric.
"Believe me, it wasn't my idea. The last thing I wanted was to move into that place and learn to turn up my nose, sip wine, lie with a smile and judge people", she frowned slightly.
Aelison then stared at herself in the mirror silent for a moment, then said," Did you know animals are more honest than people? Especially dogs, that's what I like about them. They are so loyal to a unarguable fault that they would even die to protect you", she then looked back at her cousin,"and if they don't like you, you know it instantly. Unlike us, who have to be loyal even those we don't like, but we'll lie about it."
Her eyes dropped,"Truthfully, I have mixed feelings, Violet. I can not be me anymore because of our status, but because I am loyal to my family I may end up living a lie marrying someone I may not love."
"All of a sudden, I am now afraid."

Violet wondered which of their relatives Aelison disliked Hopefully not her, else she'd surely not have asked her aid, but it could be anyone really. She realised that she didn't really understand Aelison, any more than she understood Dacey. The difference was that she felt a closer bond to Dacey.
"Marriage to a nobleman is what I want most in the world," Violet answered. "I can...see why you might not want it. I suppose you had a sort of freedom as kennel mistress. But you can't be that and be a lady. I know that." She sighed, and toyed with her sash. "I could say you will become accustomed to life as a lady in time, but your situation is different to mine. I was a little girl when I started to learn deportment and elocution and all those things ladies need to know. I didn't have too many memories of a different life. But...why did you agree to let Belric sacrifice you to a life you might not be ready for? He doesn't appear to be asking Dacey to marry, and she's our own sister." She leaned in and whispered "Is he forcing you, against your will?"

Aelison took her hand with a small smile,"Oh Violet, I was raised different from you, but it was by choice. My father wanted the same for me, but after my mother's death I took to be more comfortable with animals and that's where I remained."
Still holding her hand, she turned back to the mirror again,"Belric is not making me do anything against my will." Aelison stared at the dress,"I think what my father wanted for me to do so long ago, has finally come...."
"I will do my duty for my Lord cousin", she smiles,"being afraid shall pass. I do thank you for everything you have done. I look.... Beautiful."

"You do," Violet murmured. "Give it time, Aelison. You'll become more comfortable as you get used to your situation. I just hope you don't miss the dogs too much. At least...at least ladies are able to hunt and keep dogs."

Taking a small sigh,"I think they will be in capable hands. As long as they love my precious puppies, they won't be eaten", she joked.
"And hopefully my intended will allow me to have atleast one whether I hunt or not", she smiled once more, straightened her dress again. "Alright Violet, let us go then before the hour is too late for visiting."

"Yes, of course. Violet smiled warmly at her cousin. "Off we go. Remember to mind your skirt hems." She started for the door and opened it so Aelison could go first.

/////////////////// 4th night of the 5th moon
Almia arrived at Violet's chambers in the early evening. She knocked politely, opening the door slightly and saying, "Violet, are you in?"

Once the door had been opened by her maid, Violet came forward, welcoming Almia with a smile.
"Come in. Would you like a drink? Please, have a seat."

"Oh yes, a drink would be wonderful." Almia was pleasant, speaking with a smile on her face as she entered the room. However, she waited paitently to be served by Lady Violet before taking her seat. She did not want to be rude.
"I have been thinking about our adventure all day. Dare say I've even talked myself out of it a time or two." She gave a show of fright, feigning a shiver of cold. "Yet here I am. Are you scared?" Her question was honest, probing to see if Violet was feeling the same.

"A little," Violet answered. "But I'm happy you're here. Perhaps the ghosts will be kind enough to show themselves. They never have, before."
She seated herself and poured the wine.
