Nyles draw steel and ascends the stairs. He could be trapped here easily enough but he'd come too far to stop now.

(Success. One point awarded to Stealth.) Nyles can hear a distinct pounding noise at the end of the short hallway. The first room he passes contains a simple bedroom, but the sheets and mattresses have been tossed onto the floor. Beneath the empty bed frame is a a hole where several boards have been torn up. From the doorway, the squire can't quite make out what it might or might not have contained.

He checks behind him briefly to be sure he isn't being followed and heads to the pounding sound. Clearly the trio had prepared for this to take a while so he should have some time left. He heads towards the source of the pounding to investigate.

(Success on both counts, 1 point awarded to Stealth.) In the second room, he finds his target nailing shut a large crate. This room is clearly a storage room, and throughout it are the tools of Hearty Herb's trade. Nyles can see saddles, boots, leather vestments of all kinds to be sold. Hearty Herb was an asshole, but at a glance, it appears he knew his craft.
Downstairs, Nyles hears the front door open. The thug is apparently too distracted by his chore to notice.

Nyles tries to knock the man out with the hilt of his sword given that he has surprise. If the others come up he suspects Benjy isn't a real fighter and he can take the other in a straight up fight.

FuuuUUUCK!" Roland cries, grasping the back of his bleeding head after the knockout gone awry. (Light Wound and lost round of action.)
Malky and the man called Benjy Blue Eyes appear at the top of the staircase. Malky carries a long iron curved knife used by rug merchants. Benjy wields a thin sword and a dirk, both of castle forged steel.
Unlike the Great Sept, the storage room has little open space, with crates and display cases in no particular pattern. There is a closed glass window if Nyles should value his life over his legs.

Nyles hopes the bastard has a writ for that sword. Useless city watch anyway. He tries to peek at what the man was pounding as he flees. He will try opening the window if he has time of course but if they are too close he will break it with his sword and go through it. He pushes over nothing he can as he moves to slow them down.

(Success) Through a partial opening, Nyles can make out the contents. Leather armor, fit for combat. Hearty Herb was a busy man. Roland, fingers covered in his own blood, says something nasty in Rhoynar after the squire while grabbing hold of the workman's hammer he had dropped a moment ago.
The other two killers make their way past the random junk, but are unable to catch up to Nyles before he manages to break the door open and leap out. Hearty Herb's house is not a very tall one, but tall enough to leave the squire with a strained leg after the jump.
(Medium Wound and a painful escape to Nyles.)

Nyles clenches his teeth and stumbles through the streets, moving as quickly as he can. He goes down alleys and through shops until even he doesn't exactly know where he is, and after twenty minutes or so he stops and heads towards the Red Keep at last. The expedition could hardly be called a success.

Nyles Blackfort awaited at the entrance to the Red Keep eagerly, for once clad in his armor, sword sharp and daggers in easy reach. His shield was across his back for now and his normally placid eyes dart back and forth, waiting for the rest of the hunting party to arrive. He whistled a tune about farmers hunting foxes and seemed in general eerily cheerful to be so young and on a mission of such violence.
Of course, his mood would have been vastly improved if he possessed even the slightest idea of where the insurgent actually WAS, but he'd been given a deadline and as such they'd just have to try. A bunch of sword wielding criminals who'd already nearly killed him twice were still less frightening than Lord Bittersteel, after all.

In the yard, he found six other men in chainmail and the gold cloaks of the City Watch. One of them was grooming his fine hair and goatee in a handheld mirror. No doubt these were Ser Malkym and his men, so trusted by the Master of Laws.

Ser Harlan arrived as well, clad in mail. "Greetings," he told them, taking note of the men and raising a questioning eyebrow at Nyles, probably judging the guy with the mirror. "How's the foot?" he asked.

"Never better," the squire lied. He leaned in. "Have you ever seen a knight so pretty? He makes Alice seem like Aegor fucking Bittersteel."

It was true. Ser Malkym was more attractive than many noble women at court, and not for lack of effort.

Richard arrived, girded with his blades and wearing armor. Dark Sister was in a normal sheathe. "Nephew," he said to Nyles "Ser Harlan, Ser Malkym, thank you for your time and swords. We're waiting for one more."
