"You did not ask the man anything, you just threatened him, and then I was talking," she said, no moved, "if this is how you deal with your problems, perhaps the maester is right to question the strength of ur marriage. Do you not see how this looks. Your uncle kills a man, without so much as a word, you nearly kill the maester... House Blackfort are going to be seen as mindless brutes, which incidentally, they likely already do, and you are simply enforcing that. Not to mention, comparing yourself to lothston is not a way in which were going to endear ourselves to these people. You should let him go, and not strike him again."

Belric laughed, it was hollow and remorseless. "You excuse his insolence because you value his loyalty. Do not patronize me by saying that beating was unwarranted. You were standing here when he defied me, well before I struck him." Belric glared at her. "I am Belric Ravensbane, my reputation has been built upon heroic brutality. I would rather be known as the brute lord with an iron fist than some limp cocked puppet who lets his subjects walk all over him. Which of those titles ensure the safety of my family? Tell me wife, do you enjoy seeing me disrespected?" He peered at her through skeptical eyes. "I would not be surprised if he has already voiced his distain to you. Would you discipline him if he did? Or ignore it to avoid confrontation?"

Saesha's loo evened out.
"Clearly, my lord, you do not need me to council you then. You do not need me to tell you what I know of what you should expect at Riverrun. You are Belric Ravensbane. You can just punch yourself out of any problem. Keep in mind, my love. You may have gained your lordship my brutality, but let me assure you." she looked him up and down like she was pricing him up, "acting like Belric Raven's Bane will not allow you to keep it."

He was frustrated, he had been frustrated since he read that bloody raven from Maegar Tully. He really wanted to punch something. There were so many things. He wanted to punch Percival, the wall, his desk... anything.
"I am what I am, Saesha." He held his hands at his sides, open to her. "I was a bloodthirsty knight and no title can change that. But don't you see?" He gestured between the the two of them. "That's why we were meant to be together. You are the wise voice, while I am the sharp sword. I would not turn away your council, nor silence your voice. Would you dull my sword?"

"Except you gave done just that." She was clearly not letting this drop, "I advised you, and you disregarded it and shoved accusations at me. There is a place for fighting and a place to hold yourself back and no one is going to respect a man who is just violent. Lords need control, they need to let their heads rule their passions, like you did the night we claimed this place. We did it by being smart, by using reason, by shunning violence when it was not needed. You have other outlets for your violence, Belric, you don't need to punch masters. Should be have been punished? Perhaps, but not like you did."

"Well, perhaps I am more of a blunt mace than a sharp sword." He said, a grin appearing on his lips. "In honesty, I had no way of knowing the Maester was made of glass. If my intentions had been to beat him senseless, I would have used my fist."
He raised an eyebrow at her. "You said it yourself, we won Harrenhal with reason. We have set the foundations for an honorable rule, one that serves the people. I wish to be remembered as a just man, a legacy our children can be proud of. However, my discipline should be feared to the same degree that my justice is revered. It would be foolish to let our subjects think they can insult us freely. A maester who openly disrespects his lord would impede my authority. You should not stand for it either."

"If you beat everyone who defies you, you're a tyrant and tyrants are always disposed. The maester did not even defy you! We walk very thin line, straying a little off the line either way causes those around us to gain ammunition for our destruction. Now you may be happy with that, but I am not." They were clearly not going to come to an agreemen.
"Do not leave him in there long Belric, I am going to visit him. Soon." She assured him. "Or will you hit me too for openly defying you."

"Do not be so daft. He insulted the trust in our marriage, using his opportunity to create this rift between us instead of answering a direct question. He knew what he did was wrong, bringing that letter to you first instead of me, but he did it anyway. Then, when confronted by it, he defied me again, instead of acknowledging his lords direct orders. You say it was nothing, but I see blatant disregard." He looked at her with confusion. Had she not been standing there the whole time? Was she supported of the Maester's disobedience? She could have easily quelled the situation by reprimanding Percival, instead she chose to chastise Belric.
He ignored the last part of what she was saying. He had no intention of hitting his wife. In fact, he was beginning to fall for her, deeply and truly. However, if she openly defied him, there would be repercussions.
"We have more important business to worry about than the jaw of our mouthy Maester." He added after a time, hoping to move past his outburst and onto more delicate matters.

"just being given a title, does not mean people automatically respect you. You still need to earn it Belric" she frowned and crossed her arms again.
"I assume I am to come with you to Riverrun?"

Belric walked over to his desk and sat in the chair. He slouched heavily towards the right, supporting himself with an elbow. "I have been doing this for some time, leading men. However, war is different, there is no room for men like him. Title or not, I only know how to do this one way, and that is as a commander."
He dropped his eyes from her for a moment, thinking of his next words carefully. He looked to her once more before continuing, "I would not have your voice far from my ear, or your warmth far from my bed. But I will not force you come to Riverrun."

If she did not go he would likely do something stupid.
"If I go, hoster is not to come with us. " she said sitting opposite him, leaning back confidently, "he's dangerous. I want to get the council up and running before we go," she set her terms.

"Hoster has other duties... more suitable to his skill set." He grinned, knowing his uncle for what he was. "You've already voiced your opinion about the smith, who else would you grant a position on this council?"

"Well, my first suggestion was to be the Maester. but in lieu of him, Jon, as he is steward and perhaps the Stone Mason?"
She paused for a second, "I suppose I could fit you on there also." she smiled a bit, showing him it was a joke and she had partially looked past what had just occurred now. "Is there anyone you would have?"

Belric shrugged off her comment about the Maester, he did not view Percival's absence as a misfortune.
"Jon, is the obvious choice. I will also have my brother on it, the Castellan should have a word in such things. The Mason and the Smith will make good additions as well. But perhaps you are right, my presence would only be a distraction." He smiled at her.

"I am not sure your brother is the best fit. His job is to manage the place in your absence, not to have a say in how it should be run, but to run it as you would," she tried to be diplomatic, she was not a big fan of Edmure.
