"King's Landing, m'lord," said Belric cautiously. "I assume you will be making the trip to meet with King Daemon. It would be an honor to host you during your travels through the Gods Eye, and repay your hospitality." And whyever would you assume that?" Medgar pressed, Belric not having struck him as one to mince words.
Violet gritted her teeth for an instant, because she had felt the most absurd desire to giggle at Lysa's imagery of the obsessive seamstress. When she was able to control herself in a manner befitting a lady, she said "That is a sad tale, truly. But there is small danger now, surely? We both need new gowns, surely we could visit the nearest town that houses a suitable seamstress? I am sure your father could not possibly object to such a project." Lysa looked to her mother pleadingly, as her father was preoccupied, but the Tully matron only offered the smallest shake of her head, as if the girl should know better than to ask. "I would not be so sure," Lysa remarked bitterly.

"Will you not swear an oath to the King, the same oath you've asked of your vassals?" Belric wore a peculiar look on his face. He was rather protective of his King. He minded his manners however, inclined to continue the conversation as passively as possible. "If nothing more, it would be regrettable for your children to miss the experience of the King's court. My two youngest siblings are there now, my brother serving as the king's squire."

"I would not be so sure," Lysa remarked bitterly. Violet bit her lip, thinking. Perhaps there was a way around it but now was clearly not the best time for it. She wondered if there was something more to the situation than she had initially thought. "Well, if circumstances change, you know where to find me," she said quietly. "Some fresh air will do us both good."

If he sits it now, then I will govern the Riverlands in his name as I did his predecessor," Medgar replied testily, eyes critical as they remained fixed on the Lord of Harrenhal. "He received a raven with my surrender and that exact sentiment. He knows our words."
"You have not been lord long enough to learn that no one ever regrets missing an experience in the king's court. Regardless of the king, it is a den of vipers within a stinking city. You will learn that in time. Perhaps your siblings will be able to pass along that lesson when you see them next."

Belric watched Medgar, unaware of any tension his questions may have invoked. "You are right, I still have much to learn about being a lord. I know about Vipers, however." He eyed Medgar for a moment longer, before waving it off. "Very well, I'll have to find some other reason for you to visit Harrenhal."

Medgar flashed him a look that said he did not know the first thing, but he would learn. He had not been bit yet.
"I wonder if I will even recognize the world outside thee walls now," he remarked, in response to the invitation.

"Men do not change. It does not matter who sits a throne or rules a castle." Belric indulged himself in some of the wine. "I think you will find the world much the same as it has always been."

"I have always been a creature of of habit though," Medgar mused. "Are you the same, my lord? When you enter your chambers and a servant has moved something the slightest bit out of place, do you notice? Are you nagged by the sense that something is amiss, that your sanctuary is not your own? In my experience, it is the little things that a man, that drive a man mad."

"I have never been one for compulsions. My life has not been one of organization or order. I am a product of circumstance, and have only ever had the foresight to deal with problems as they arise. Much of my life has been spent in war camps or living in barracks, so I have had little experience living in a place that is mine alone." Belric feared he was being too honest, but spoke anyway. "I can see how a man like yourself would become meticulous about such things. However, that has simply never been my way."

"I'm sure you'll be right at home then," Medgar decided. "Demanding meticulous order from Harrenhal is akin to demanding obedience from a bear. You can teach it to dance, but it will tear your head off just the same given half the chance."

Belric held to his reservations about the true dangers of Harrenhal. Apart from a family feud, starvation, and a little child murder, it was as fine a keep as any.
"I won't let my guard down, m'lord. Though I would be lieing if I said the prospect does not excite me. I am not one to pass up such an opportunity."

"Then see that you hold onto it with both hands," Medgar said, rising. "Forgive me, but my stomach has not yet again adapted to the enjoyment of fine food. Do make yourself at home Lord and Lady Blackfort. I will see you in the morning."

Belric stood while excusing him, "Of course, m'lord."
Only once Medgar had left and Belric returned to his chair, did he notice the awkward situation in which he found himself. He was without a word for those remaining at the table, unable to entertain Lady Tully and outwitted by Medgar's heir. However, Belric knew better than to leave food on his plate.
