Willem nodded at the Knight's words. "True. But you did all you could. One cannot justly ask more than that."

Jormun does actually appear sad about the slain guards, taking several moments to stop by each one and mutter a prayer before moving on, continuing to follow the tracks of the bandits.

"There is nothing just about what happened here," he muttered.
Altogether, they find the six dead guards and Edmure. No other bodies are found. The trail of the horses leads east, though there is no telling how far.

Jormun returns to his horse and mounts, riding to the edge of the bodies. "Tracks head east. Only our bodies and horses, the knights either took their dead with them or caught the group by surprise."

Dacey returned to her horse as well. "We should follow the tracks," she said, trying to come up with the best course of action. "Nick, Lem and Jonas, take the bodies back to Harrenhal and inform Saesha. Or Belric, if he's returned," she told the guards.
Then, she turned to Ser Malcolm. "You have already done enough, but would you care to join us in our expedition? If the mere sight of you scared these bandits off, I am sure you could be of help."

The three guardsmen reverently load up their brothers in arms on the horses...and Edmure, before riding back for Harrenhal.
"I would be honored to accompany you and loath to leave another noble woman in danger," Malcolm responded, not bothering to mention that with the three sent back, their group wasn't much larger than the one that had been attacked.

Jormun evidently has no problem mentioning that same thought. "Not without more knights. We're sending back seven of our own that got run through with a care, we can't go chasing after these bandits into another ambush and slaughter."

Dacey nodded. "We'd get them faster if one of us doubled back," she said. "Will you, or shall I?" she inquired, not wanting to ask Ser Willem for obvious reasons. If he happened to offer, good.

"You know the situation better than I, best you get as many as you think we'll need. I'll stay here and keep watch." Jormun brought his spear up to rest across his lap, looking at the crows above.

Willem glanced at Dacey, the irony of the situation not entirely lost on him. However between waiting around with Jormun or riding hard for several bells he had no doubt which he'd prefer. "I'm the better rider, my lady." He said. "If you promise you'll wait for me here, I will go."

A corner of Dacey's mouth twitched at Willem's offer, and she actually broke into a slight smile. She did not doubt he was the swifter rider here, him being a knight and all. Most of Dacey's days in the army had consisted of nooks, ditches and other suitable settings for ambushes.
"We will wait for you," she said, back to her usual serious self. "Ask for fifteen men," she instructed. "If anyone has a problem with that, tell them I sent you and tell them we're hunting the bandits that killed Edmure and six of our men."

"I will return as swiftly as I am able." Willem replied. He strode quickly over to his mount, and pulled himself up into the saddle. Then, without looking back, he pressed his heels into his horse, urging it back toward Harrenhal at the greatest possible speed. So far as he knew, there was still a chance to locate the bandits who had slain Edmure and the guardsmen, and he did not want that chance to be lost for his not moving quickly enough.

Dacey moved back to the treeline after Willem left, for further inspection. It wasn't like they had a lot to do, anyway.
She studied the trail in an attempt to figure out their numbers and kept her eye out for anything of note.

(+1 Horsemanship Willem)
Ser Willem rides like the wind. He will arrive at daybreak the following morning with the requested guards. Remaining gang will need to make camp for the evening. Post the new date.
(+1 Observation Dacey)
A war spent setting ambushes had left Dacey with a keen eye for the best position to set one. She managed to find the optimum spot to lay in wait, far enough back in the treeline to avoid being seen until you were ready, but with a clear view of passerbys on the road. She counted indents from six riders and from this point of origin was able to piece together the general layout of the attack. There had been 6 bandits laying in wait. They had loosed arrows, from longbows judging by the range. Then while their quarry had been scrambling, they had mounted their steeds and charged, shock and awe winning the day. To Dacey's likely concern, she also noted that the bmurder of crows had begun paying more attention to her now that the corpses were gone, like she was Eeyore and they were an angry black avian rain cloud above her head. Perhaps they knew something she didn't

Dacey moved away from the crows, trying to find cover in the edge of the woods while they waited.
