"That might be a good precaution, my lord." Willem replied, not nearly as amused as Belric or Willis.

"Beating things in anger is how Belric handles disputes, Willem, and we don't have a war yet. Maybe the idea has some credit." Jormun smiles at his brother, raising his goblet in a mock salute. "But there is still time." "Is there another way?"

"You could try to talk things out, but following Edmure's example at Armistead's and this dispute now, probably not."

"Is that not what I'm doing right now? Have I not always done that?" Belric gave Jormun a peculiar look. He wasn't offended, just curious as to his brother's reasoning.

"Aye, but usually it is the fist that finishes the argument. Our misfortuned maester is a testament to the ways of Blackfort diplomacy." Jormun shrugged towards Belric, glancing around the table. "None of us could be considered diplomats, nor any of our retinue. For House Blackfort to become a truly acknowledged house, perhaps we should find one."

Dacey snorted, half a smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth at Belric's question; yelling at people at the top of one's lungs and destroying furniture didn't really correspond with 'talking things out', in her opinion. "We used to have one," she pointed out, referring to the uncle they'd lost to, like, a month-long dysentery. "But that's a good suggestion."

Vioket pretended to ignore the conversation currently going on. She was tured of all the violence between their family.

"The Maester has a habbit of letting his mouth get him in trouble. Reprimanding him has nothing to do with diplomacy." Belric was not troubled by his reputation, he had worked hard to earn it. "You can thank my violent nature for the meal you are eating and the roof over your head."
Despite his own words, Belric could hardly contribute his success to agression alone. Reason won the day when they came to Harrenhal, not the sword. He survived Riverrun and negotiated a marriage for his sister without violence. It occured to Belric that his siblings knew very little about the passive diplomacy they preached. It was easy to follow Belric and criticize along the way. It was something else entierly to lead.
Belric gave Dacey a curious look, followed by a sly smile. "Did you not stab the Master of Coin? We are Blackforts, Violence is in our bones. Even Jon violently shit himself to death." He put a hand on Violet's shoulder. "The only one here who has not stained their hands with blood is Violet."

"I did not," she replied, still a tad amused, "though seeing as he told everyone I did, I sure owe it to him." It was difficult to tell whether she was being serious. At Belric's commendation, she looked briefly at Violet, the very image of purity, virtue, rainbows and unicorns.

Violet tensed under Belric's hand, feeling slightly sick. Yet some kind of response wasclearly required so she pretend to be startked.
"Sorry, Belric. I was far away. Dreaming of my wedding day." She forced out a nervous giggle.

Jormun turned his attention to his food and ate silently, watching however the conversation would go. He had a list of witty jabs and objections prepared, but was content to keep them in reserve.

Belric grinned from ear to ear. "I'd imagine he won't be letting you get anywhere close to him after King's Landing." He shot his sister a sarcastic look and made a mock stabbing motion with his dinner knife.
Seeing that Violet had missed what he said, Belric felt the need to repeat himself. "I was just saying that you are the only person at this table who hasn't killed somebody. Saesha may not have done it personally, but her siege weapons probably took more lives during the war than all of us combined." He looked at his wife and smiled with pride.

"The past should be kept there, dear, now the only thing I concern myself is with the extension of life," she smiled back at him though, showing she knew it was praise and that she accepted it, "Violet though, is a real lady and by all accounts, a credit to any normal noble house, even if she does not take oaths and commitments seriously," she said lightly, her tone teasing.
Saesha still thought her haughtiness hardly deserved seeing as she was at best some commoner with delusions of grandeur.

Violet wished Belric would stop praising her. It was not something he had done often in the past and it sat very ill with her now, especially after her recent experiences. It felt wrong on several levels. Part of her wanted to break down and tell Belric about the bandit attack but she was both frightened and guilt-ridden, and still unsure of how Belric would react. And there were too many people present to make that a viable option in her eyes.
But she could not avoid acknowledging the comment any longer, so she said "Thank you, Belric. You are too kind, and Saesha as well. I just want to be married and live a life of comfort and happiness. That is all I have ever wanted."
