“Much appreciated, but we can tek care of ar own well enough. I just ‘ope ter not be a bother.” Harlan tapped his finger on the countertop, wondering when his meal was destined to arrive. In character or not, he was hungry. Trying to keep his mind off of it, he continued his conversation with the tavern keep to pass the time. “So... , what ar’ you known fer? Lots of taverns ‘ave a thing. You got one?” "No bother at all. We aim to please here at the Respite, no matter which banner you flew during the war," Warren replied with a broad smile. "Cold ale, fine food, and warm beds are what we're known for. I'd bet my right foot we've the finest tavern in the kingdom, but I seem to have misplaced it." He gave a deep bellowing laugh at his own self-deprecating jest. As his daughter carved some roast boar and stewed vegetables onto a pair of plates, he added, "Bethany'll get your food to you in a moment if you and your companion want to take a table. Sit anywhere you like."

"Nah, she's not that breed of lady. Lord Roote always said he would gift some land to Ser Ector after the war, but Lord Roote made a lot of other fucking promises too." Red scowled briefly, before asking, "What's your name, newcomer? Ah'm Logan. Everyone here calls me Dornish Red, but I would much prefer you using the name my ma gave me." "Logan. I'll remember," Tim murmured. "Me name's Tim. Just Tim. I don't know nothin' 'bout lords - I keeps me 'ead down when I see 'em. Safer that way, ain't it?" He finished his drink. "Seven 'ells, I need a piss! Where's the privy?"

“I ‘aven’t been to as many taverns as most men, but I can tell yah, just by the comp’ny, your’s is above the rest.” Harlan tipped his mug of ale in Warren’s direction, offered up with a kindly nod of his head. “Thank you much, fer mixin’ words with me.” With that sad, he was out of his seat.
Approaching Tim, he gave the gentleman sharing the table a once over. “I’ve got us a room, an’ sum dinner commin’.” he said, pulling a seat free. “Who’s your new friend?”

"'is name's Logan. Seems decent." He nodded at Logan. "This is Dale, me mate. I'm bloody 'ungry, but I were just sayin', I need a piss first."
He was far from desperate, but he needed the excuse to get out of the room and explore the grounds.

Bethany was by shortly, the comely auburn-haired young woman dropping off two steaming plates of roast boar and stewed vegetables. The Respite was not stingy with its portion sizes.
"If you gents need anything else, just give me a holler," she said with her father's same infectious cheer.

"Smells good," Tim said, approvingly. He snagged a slice of beef to eat as he headed out towards the stables. His plan was to relieve himself then scout around the outside of the tavern to find all the doors, windows big enough for a person to get in and out of, and anything else of note around the building. Once he had done that, he would head back inside to finish his meal.

The tavern has three entrances: the main entrance nearest the Kingsroad where they had come in, the second by the kitchens and larder beside a stack of firewood, and the third by the stables and outhouse. There were some windows on the third floor that a person could get through, but it was unlikely the would manage it without a few broken bones.

Tim head back into the tavern to finish his meal. As he ate, he thought about his next move.

“Well off with you, go tek care of it.” Harlan said to Tim as he sat down at the table.
He smiled at Logan when he was introduced, offering a curious tilt of the head at the man’s question. “Wha’ kin’ of letter?” he asked.
Harlan was thrilled to see the meal before him. He gave Bethany a smile and a wink as he took his plate from her hands. “I’d ‘ave never guessed I’d see such eur beauty when I first walked thru ‘em doors.” He tried to sound earnest.

Tim, being illiterate, had no interest in the written word. So he finished his meal and then went over to speak to Ethel. Smiling at her, he tried to put on a somewhat vacant expression.
"My thanks, Mistress. That was t'best meal I've ate in ages. Can I 'elp out t' thank yer? Mayhaps fetch barrels from t'cellar or somethin'?"

"All the big wonders will last a bit for me to go see them. What I am more interested in is the way of life over here." Taero states, not bothering to say that any big castles these have would be dwarfed by the greatness of the Free Cities, with the main exception being their giant Ice Wall. "Well if you were here during the war, you saw more of the way of life over here than you're like to see during the peace," the bounty hunter mused. "In Essos, war is a business. Here, it's a way of life." “Well off with you, go tek care of it.” Harlan said to Tim as he sat down at the table. He smiled at Logan when he was introduced, offering a curious tilt of the head at the man’s question. “Wha’ kin’ of letter?” he asked. Harlan was thrilled to see the meal before him. (Seduction: 62) The girl did not so much as blush, but offered Harlan a grateful smile, clearly well accustomed to compliments and flattery from patrons. "Pa has a letter from Daemon Blackfyre his self," she said, motioning to the framed piece of parchment that hung over the bar. "People come form miles around to see it. It's no small comfort to have a king that truly cares for his subjects." Tim, being illiterate, had no interest in the written word. So he finished his meal and then went over to speak to Ethel. Smiling at her, he tried to put on a somewhat vacant expression. "My thanks, Mistress. That was t'best meal I've ate in ages. Can I 'elp out t' thank yer? Mayhaps fetch barrels from t'cellar or somethin'?" "Well aren't you a nice boy," Ethel replied in a matronly tone. "Logan has got the heavy lifting handled just fine though. You're far too skinny though, all skin and bones. So you can help me out by coming right back here for a second helping when you've finished your plate, on the house."

But I'd like to 'elp out while I'm 'ere. Me ole mam said I ain't got no brains but nobody could e'er say I weren't 'elpful."

“It’s not real thou, is it?” Harlan asked, unsure why he had even asked the question. He shook his head defiantly, “It’s a clever trick by your ol’ man, but what in the bleeding ‘ell could the Bastard King have tuh write about?”
