"Everyone likes compliments," Violet whispered back. "Whether they admit it or not. But we shouldn't fawn over him like lovesick maids. We'll be admiring and respectful, that's enough."

"Alright then, since we're being admiring and respectful, what else can we do besides stand here?"

Violet thought a moment. letting her gaze wander towards Lord Mallister.
"I'm just a girl who knows little about the fighting arts. Perhaps you could educate me," she suggested. "You know this sort of thing far better than I ever will. And you never know, you future husband might actually like that."

In this short time of her being around her cousin, Aelison didn't know she had a sense of humor. "Well I'm not skilled with the long blades...", she stated, still watching Lord Mallister,"I'm more skilled with my fists and smaller blades."
"So I'm basically more likely to give you a good beating and then slit your throat."

Violet raised an eyebrow. "Well, don't tell your future husband that!" She exclaimed. "I daresay he would call off the wedding."

"Awww Violet, only in self defense. I'm not some brigand", she smiled,"but I will keep what you said in mind."
"I really don't want to scare the men away", she chuckled.

Violet giggled. "I hope not. It would be a waste putting you in a dress if you scared them off. "
She paused to watch Lord Mallister for a moment. "He is so talented."

"He is, but.... ", She tilted her head,"I can see one of our kin defeating him. That's how much faith I have", she grinned.
"I wonder... What it was like to be his wife? She must have been a special woman to let her daughter do such things with her father... " Aelison stops and looks around,"Is there no where we can sit, this is torture standing like this."

Lord Mallister was training strenuously with the knights of SeagardHe was wearing only a pair of breeches and covered in a fresh sheen of sweat as he fended off two knights armed with training weapons. He was bruised and battered, but gave as good as he got.
"Another!" he bellowed, as a third of his knights stepped in to join the fray, the four men fought fiercely over the uneven surface of Flowstone Yard. Joseth glanced over at the awaiting ladies and was rewarded with a blow to the arm from one of his training partners. He bashed his shield into the offending man's face, knocking him to the ground, before disarming the remaining two in quick succession and dismissing them.
He approached the ladies, trading his training gear to a nearby squire in exchange for a refreshing goblet of chilled whine, despite the cold weather. It helped to sooth the massive bruise taking shape on his arm.
"Ladies," he said in greeting, with a respectful incline of his head. "Did you not see enough swordplay at the melee?"

Violet smiled warmly at the lord. "Not quite, my lord. The Lady Aelison and I were much struck by your skills, and longed to see more. The melee was rather...busy and everything happened so fast. Out here in the yard, without the frantic action of the melee, we can truly appreciate a man's skill.
She paused to take a breath. "I hope you do not mind the intrusion my lord, but Aelison was so struck with your prowess that she particularly wished to meet you and asked me to accompany her. Isn't that so, cousin?" She turned to smile at her cousin.

Charm 88 Aelison coughed back a chuckle as Violet was brattling off whatever she said to Lord Mallister, basically nodding then she replied,"I did admire your form from my unfortunate seat in the cold water below during the melee, My Lord. A true warrior's skill you have", she smiled at him. "How are you and your daughter, Joanna, enjoying your time here with my family?" With no clear idea of what she was doing, but she made sure to mention his daughter, hopefully he would appreciate her taking notice of that. "During the Bohort, both of you did very good in that event as well." "She is very fortunate to have a skilled father as you to show her the art of the sword."
