The woman pondered that for a moment, a highborn caring for the education of peasant children an alien concept for her. Knowledge was power and there was good reason that nobles tended to hoard it.
"Folk of this town tend to work their children during the days; tending fields, chores, and the like. Little time for schooling," she remarked, but then added. "Though no reason the children can't benefit from someone teaching them their letters and numbers. Certainly would be nice if some of the little ones could help me with the books one day. My eyes aren't what they used to be."

"Let us also consider facilitating apprenticeships for some of the children who show an interest. There is going to be a lot of skilled labor coming through Harrenhal in the next few months. Education is important, but so is learning a trade."

"Apprenticeships would also be well received, I take it. If we can increase trade to the town, which the port will do, then the number of needed apprenticeships will go up." Saesha nodded her agreement.

"That would do no shortage of good for this town," the old woman replied, nodding now, seeming genuinely interested. "The war left us at a shortage of skilled laborers and the starvation did us no favors either. No one wants to ply their trade in a ghost town."

"We'll endeavour to help the town and its residents situation all we can," she assured, "you could help me actually, if you would be so inclined." She smiled and motioned further down the bar away from her husband, leaving her wine for Belric.

The old woman gave no indication whether or not she would agree to provide such aid, but followed just the same, curious even in her advanced age.

"Obviously, this is one of the main hubs of the town," Saesha said smiling slightly, most come through your doors, travellers, townsfolk. I would never ask for you to report on the people of this town, but if you hear any mentions of... Less than savoury plans coming from inside the the keep, that any of your patrons who work there may mention, I would be grateful if you could let me know. We want to help the town and the people, but it is made all the harder if there are people inside working against us."

(+2 Persuasion. Saesha gains an additional network point in Harrenhal)
"You kept you word so far, soI will do what I can to ensure you never have cause to break it," Muriel agreed, with a nod. "I'll keep my ear to the ground, milady."

"Just promise me that when it comes time for the child to be born, you will have it here in the town rather than the keep," Muriel replied, with concern. "Better to be born in the shadow of the beast than in its belly."

"If I can." She said, "do you think I should have it... Elsewhere? I am sure I can go to kings landing when I am near to have it," it would be a great inconvenience. "If you are so concerned."

"When you are a mother you will learn that no inconvenience is too great for your children," the woman said, sadly, lost in her thoughts for a moment. "There is enough that can go wrong in childbirth without the machinations of this wretched place."

Belric chuckled, puting his hand to his mouth in an effort to play it off as a cough. Harrenhal was a shit hole, but he had yet to see anything that was out of the ordinary. Aside from the giant rat that bit him in the dungeons, he had yet to be surprised.
"Surely you are overreacting, the horrors of Harrenhal have been caused by men and women, just like you and me."

"Six houses thought the same, six lords of Harrenhal," the old woman said, seeming to stare through Belric. "Where are they now?"

"I cannot ignore the hardships that accompany Harrenhal, but perhaps you are seeing a coincidence for more than it is."
