"Foundations and the towers will be first." said Edmure firmly. He looked up at the sky shading his eyes as we did so. "Have you seen everything you need to, Qhorin? If so, it is time we returned to Harrenhal." He looked across to Willem. "I'd be interested to know a little more about the whereabouts of these bandits too." "Would you have me scout the area?" Willem asked in way of response. "I can do so should you wish it, but I'll need a man or two." Edmure glanced at him approvingly. "I won't order it cousin, but I won't say 'no' either. If you wish to scout, pick two men, or three if so desire and do so. Don't engage, but report back to Harrenhal if you discover any. Depending on their strength, we'll need a bigger force to engage them."

Willem thought for the briefest of moments before answering. "Two will do fine. If you can spare anyone with experience in scouting that would be useful as I am not an expert myself."

"I'm not sure who has experience on scouting amongst these men , but you are welcome to ask and take whomever you will."

"Is there anyone here who counts themselves a good scout and would join me in tracking the bandits that plague our lords land?" Willem called out to the men who had accompanied their group.

"Me brother and me were hunters before you Blackforts came, milord," one of the men spoke up, as if that were the same thing. "Always put meat on the table."

Edmure glanced at Willem. "Looks like you have your scouts, cousin. I'm sorry, but that looks like the best I can do for you"

"A man who can track game can no doubt track men too." Willem replied, nodding approvingly. "If you and your brother wish to join me, I would be most happy."
He looked to Edmure. "If they are willing, I am sure that with their help I will be able find these bandits." He said, sounding confident but not quite looking the part.

"They will do as ordered." said Edmure to Willem. "Take them and find these bandits if you can. Confine your search to our lands only. And if you find them, do not engage but report back to Harrenhal. My brother and I will decide how best to deal with them."

He dug his heels into his horse's sides, waved farewell to Willem and his two men and with the rest of his men moved south-east towards Harrrnhal.

Willem waited until Edmure had receded into the distance as little more than a cloud of dirt disturbed by the horses hooves before turning to the brothers.
"I'm no great tracker or hunter." He told them with blunt honesty. "And while I've been in a scouting party or two I was never leading it, or for that matter doing much scouting of worth. So I'll trust your judgment as better trackers than I. It seems to me that since we are already in this area we might as well begin looking for bandits here, but before we do anything, I would know your thoughts,"

The brothers exchange a glance that spoke volumes clearly bemused that someone who had never led a scouting party had been so eager to volunteer in a land apparently riddled with bandits that did know the land and likely did have experience scouting. One of them laughed uneasily, clearly certain the highborn knight was about to get the both killed.
"I were a bandit, I wouldn't set up here," one of the brothers remarked. "Rocky land, no cover, no buildings, no merchants come through this way, nowhere to ambush passerbys from or scatter. Can see a long way in either direction. Were it me, I'd post up in the forest near Harrentown or the old clay pits in the southwest."

The look was not lost on Willem. He paused for a moment, considering what the man had told him. He had thought that the best way to impress Edmure would be thoroughness, but perhaps the man was right. It would be a waste of Lord Belric's resources to search areas there were not likely to be bandits. Not to mention the further lack of confidence such a decision would produce in the brothers. Edmure would likely still be satisfied with knowing the areas most likely to be used by bandits had been searched.
"I suppose you are right." Willem replied. "Let us begin by searching the clay pits then and deal with the Harrentown area on our way back. And if we do run into bandits there's no need to play the hero. There's only three of us, and I intend for us to all return to harrenhal in the same health we are now."
(Ooc: should I make a new post in this thread with a later date, or do you want us to just continue from here?)

The trio road southwest, towards the clay pits.
(Considering there's another group about to do the same thing at the clay pits, I'll probably just have them run into one another. Dates seem to match up and this way the bandit hunt gets another person.)

24th of the Second Moon
Hoster and his crew of Bandit Hunter arrive in the lands surrounding the Clay Pits.
"We gon' need som' one ta scout the place 'fore we do an'thin..." Hoster said hushedly, taking a sip of wine from his skin.
