He laughed at his brothers jest, "It is the bears that should be wary of you, Edmure. A true Blackfort indeed." He slapped him on the shoulder, as brothers do.

Edmure winced slightly as Belric slapped his injured shoulder. It was healing well, but he didn't want any delay or complications to it being fully healed.
"I'll make my preparations." replied Edmure. "Before I depart, I'll issue instructions that the mason and his workers are to begin work on the main gate using what materials we have."

"The smith in Harentown is already forging bolts and so on for it," she added helpfully, having the good grace not to have slipped into Belric's chair as he vacated it.

Edmure smiled at Saesha, a somewhat brittle smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"I'm pleased to hear that my lady." he said coolly but politely. "The repairs should not take too long in that case."

//////////////////////////////////////////// (2/22/200)
Willis showed up at Belric's solar, knocking twice before letting himself in.
"You got a second, Bel? Wanted to have a word, now that things are getting to somethin' like normal."

Belric was nearly waist deep in maps of the Riverlands, having been plotting his inevitable takeover. He looked up at Willis as he entered the room, a welcome distraction from planning strategy.
"Let's hear it." He said, moving some of the maps off his desk in a half-assed effort to clean a sport for Willis to sit.

Willis took a seat in one of the chairs in front of the desk. He gave the maps a quick glance before speaking.
"You know I'm not used to sitting in one place for too long. Fixing up the keep, that's all well and good, but if you don't mind me getting metaphorical: every job has the right tool to use. A knight ain't the tool you use to build. A knight's the tool you use for fighting and killing." He scratched at his beard. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'll do whatever job you got for me. But if that job involved me being on the road and using my axe from time to time, I'd likely be a whole lot better at it."

"I would not let your talents be waisted. There will be plenty of opportunities to use your axe in the days to come. I am preparing a scouting party to track down, and if possible, eliminate the threat of bandits roaming the countryside. You should get with Hoster, he will be leading the party."

Willis snorted a laugh. "That old fucking drunk? I'm amazed he can find his clothes in the morning, much less some bandits. Unless they're stockpiling wine, then he might be able to smell their camp from a few miles off."

"Do not be so quick to judge Hoster, he is more crafty than you think. But you bring up a good point." Belric leaned back in his chair, tapping his chin in thought. "You will go with Hoster, and make sure he completes his orders. I will expect a full report when you return."

Jormun knocks on the door to the Lord's solar after hobbling his way over, unaware of the current conversation. "Where's my favorite half-brother?"

"Jormun?" Belric said from the opposing side, recognizing his brothers voice. He opened the door to let Jormun in, looking him over to check up on his wounds. "How's the leg healing?"

"It's healing well, for a bear's chewtoy. I do hope I'm not interrupting, I only wish to catch up." Jormun grins to himself for a moment before clearing his throat. "I mean, I wish to give my full report, my Lord. I also have a suggestion for our bear pit. Where's the good stuff?" Jormun broke the formal tone as he looked for a liquor cabinet, hobbling in to the solar.

Willis nodded at Jormun as he limped in, and rose from his seat. "I'll see to it. Milord. Suppose keeping an eye on Hoster ain't the worst job. But I'll let you two catch up." He gave something resembling a bow and made his way out of the solar.

"Thank you Willis, good luck." said Belric, nodding to Willis as he left the room.
When he turned around, Jormun was well into his hunt for Belric's liquor. "It's in the cabinet." He said nonchalantly, pointing towards his wine storage. "What is this about the bear pit?"
