"I'll tell him," Jared promised. "I' ll rest a few hours and let my horse recover, then depart. I was a knight before I was a septon, and I've not gone soft yet."
He gave her a small smile. "Gods keep you safe, my lady. If I may be excused?"

Dacey gave him a nod in return. "Of course. Thank you, and good luck on your journey," she said, and waited him to leave first so they wouldn't have to both awkwardly leave at the same time.

Jared stood, bowed, and left the solar. A tankard of ale and a hearty meal were calling.

//////////// 13th Day of the 3rd Moon
Belric sent a servant to fetch Lord Shoreham. He waited patiently in his solar, keeping himself occupied with the study of his boarders.

(Just saw this.) Oswell Shoreham was an old man by most standards, somewhere in his fifties. But he moved like a much younger man with only a slight hunch. He immediately kneeled upon entering the room. "My lord Blackfort."

(just saw this... haha)
"Lord Shoreham," replied Belric, getting up from his seat to greet his Vassal properly. "I apologize for my absence. My short time ruling Harrenhal has been quite busy. Though it appears I am through the brunt of it. How has your stay been thus far?"

"Excellent, my lord, though burdened with sadness. My sons and I escorted your late brother's pilgrimage after it passed through my lands." His eyes betrayed a genuine weariness. "Too typical of my experiences with this old monstrosity."
He leaned on a chair, but did not sit until his liege did.

Belric motioned to the chair, picking up on the hint and offering Lord Shoreham a seat. "I wanted to extend to you my gratitude for doing such a thing." He replied, taking to his own chair. "It is a great personal service you have done me, and know that it will be remembered. I have heard word that your lands are throttled by banditry, is that true?"

"Aye, my lord." He took his seat. "By two gangs in particular. The Red Eels lead by a charlatan named Skinner Jon and Black Bronn's family, who I'm told were once scouts of House Lothston. I don't have the quantity to challenge the one nor the quality to challenge the other. Not without outright calling my peasants to arms and possibly inciting my neighbors. It's a dreadful situation, my lord."

"Tell me about them. How many men do Skinner Jon and Black Bronn have between them? Where are they holding out?" Belric was not trying to be short with man, he just treated every situation like he were still a soldier... Get to the point, solve the problem.

He scratched his chin as he considered the first man. "Skinner Jon reputedly has a hundred men, but I imagine he'll have closer to fifty, if that. Itinerant commoners, all of them, bound by hunger, greed, and superstition. The only man of quality they possess is Jon himself, who must have served in the war to lead so many successful raids on better equipped soldiers."
He poured himself a cup of water. "Unless you believe in visions like his followers. They say he has green eyes like certain seers up North and sacrificed his handsome features to a wildling woman's knife for the ability to lead his people to prosperity. Poppycock, of course, but if you can find the man himself, you'll save yourself a lot of time and effort cutting through his followers."

Belric leaned back in his chair as he listened to Shoreham explain the situation. Fifty men was nothing to laugh at, never mind one hundred. Numbers worried Belric more than any superstition could, and it seemed these men may have a sizable force that knew the lands. It was of great curiosity how Shoreham even made to Harrenhal without being captured by the outlaws. Surely they would be scouting all the major roads.
"Where shall I have my men start their search for Skinner Jon?" He asked plainly.

"I would seek out his lieutenants first. Hal, a former squire, murdered his wife by drowning her in a horse's trough before fleeing Shoreham. I should like to see him publicly hung instead of cut down for such an offense, but I defer to my lord's judgment. The other two are brothers. Leo and Brynden were common horse thieves before they met Skinner Jon. Understand, we've taken many alive and put them to the rack. But only those three will know how to find this heathen who terrorizes me. I can mark their favorite haunts on the map, so your people know where to look. Septon's Passage and the Grey Mile are reliable favorites of theirs."

Belric rubbed his hands through his hair, it was getting a little long for his liking. "I'll do as you suggest, though it will take time."
He got up, and poured two glasses of wine. Without asking if Lord Shoreham cared for a drink, Belric placed it on the table before, then returned to his seat.
"Tell me m'lord, what reason does this heathen have to terrorize you?" Belric cocked his head and raised his brow, watching Shoreham as he took a sip of wine.

(Success. One point awarded.)
He shrugged. "Same reason the Ironmen took to sea or Aegon the Dragon landed in Westeros. They had less than us, and desired to correct that gross imbalance. There will always be lesser men like Skinner Jon, howling about inequality and ready to turn to the sword to make his mark for justice. This one just fancies himself a prophet too."
