The chambers of the Castellan of Harrenhal in charge of the defense and governance of Harrenhal in the absence of the lord. The castellan's chambers are as spacious as any lords. The castellan's solar is a spare, drafty room that is as large as a hall in a smaller castle.

Now that Belric's lordship of Harrenhal has likely been secured, Edmure goes to examine his new chambers in the Kingspyre Tower. The new Castellan in particular was looking for parchment scrolls dealing with the administrative documentation of the new Lordship, especially in relation to Harrehal's vassals. He wondered if the late Ser Bruce Whent had left him much to examine.

Lord Bruce had been the knight of Kingspyre Tower, not the Castellan of Harrenhal, and thus had his own solar and chambers in the massive tower. As it was, the Castellan's Chambers were fairly bare and everything was covered in a thick sheet of dust. Lady Danelle had apparently not had use for a Castellan, never having had reason to leave her keep. The closest thing she had had to fill the position was Ser Simon Whent, who of course, lived in the Wailing Tower.

Edmure walked through his new abode, examining every nook and cranny to familarise himself with the layout. It wasn't long before he had the available servants summoned to begin cleaning out the chambers, including a small room that had a view of most of the castle which he determined would be his solar and another large room with a garderobe that would serve very nicely as his bedchamber. Finding some trusted guards to make sure that unwelcome visitors could not enter easily would be his next priority.

In his search for the dungeons, Willem had first ended up well astray. Seeing Edmure within his chambers he knocked on the door, hoping for some directions. "Ser Edmure, I was looking for the dungeons. Might you happen to know where they are?"

"Usually found at the bottom of towers, not close to the top." replied Edmure, a mite surprised at the request and indeed at the presence of his new found cousin at his chambers. Edmure dismissed the servants busily cleaning the chambers and invited the young knight in. He moved across to fill two cups from a decanter of wine which he had managed to secure from somewhere.
"Sit cousin." he said indicating a seat at a table that unlike much of the rest of the room was not covered in dust. "Your arrival is most fortunate. As it happens I wished to speak with you."

"Truly?" Willem sounded surprised. "Well then it is most fortunate that I have gotten myself so lost." He took a seat at Edmure's behest.

Ednure pushed a cup of wine across to him.
"I wish to make you an offer cousin. I have heard of your prowess with a sword and indeed on a horse. Soon, I plan to ride out with a company of men and take stock of the lands and vassals of Harrenhal. It is my intention that you accompany me as my second in command. Your duties will be to reconnoiter for me and report back anything of worth."
He paused watching the young knight closely for his reaction.

"Speaking truthfully Ser, I am not the strongest on a mount. Certainly not strong enough to be a great jouster as you no doubt are. I was only made a knight during the war, and I don't have much more experience on horseback than your average man at arms. But I am passable with a blade. If you still wish to offer me the position knowing that, it would be my honour to accept it." He smiled, showing he was pleased with the offer, or so he hoped. He took the cup but did not drink yet, since Edmure had yet to confirm the position was his.

Edmure gave a short bark of laughter. "You don't give yourself enough credit Willem. From what I hear, you are more than passable on a horse and dare I say it...better than myself. In any event I don't require you to joust. What I need is a strong sword by my side and a man who if necessary can enforce the will of Lord Belric as he delivers it to me. And someone who can demonstrate their loyalty to Harrenhall."
He raised his cup towards Willem. "Nonetheless I appreciate your honesty. However the position is still yours, if you want it. Do well in this Ser, and there will likely be other rewards."

As for who is the better rider, I suppose we shall have to find out on the road." He offered with a grin.

"Indeed." replied Edmure. "Be ready. I'm not sure when we shall go, but it will be soon. From what I hear, bandits roam our lands pillaging and killing and they must be dealt with if we are to restore Harrenhal to a semblance of order."

////////////////////////////// Master Qhorin reports to the Castellans office after the initial setup of his facilities was complete. He is a medium sized man, but his hands are large and veined, and he cracks them constantly. Edmure was looking out the window of his solar gazing over Harrenhal when the guard announced the arrival of the mason. After he permitted entry, Edmure directed the mason to a seat. "Qhorin is it?" he said with a smile. "Welcome to Harrenhal. What can I do for you?"
