The man did as commanded and word was spread quickly that the man with severe bowel distress was in charge for the moment.

///// 10th day 3rd moon
Having dressed in fresh attire, Edmure sent for Maester Percival, his sister Dacey, Jormun, Willis and Willem (and Lord Vance if he were present) to meet with him in his chambers. He had been informed that his uncle Jon was still indisposed, so did not summon him. He wasn't sure about Hoster's condition, but wasn't sure his uncle would be able to contribute anything useful to the discussion he wanted to have.
He sat somewhat wearily in his seat, trying to protect his broken ribs, while he waited for their arrival.

Ser Willem arrives, walking slowly so as not to jar his ribs any more. He had removed the plate that had been on him for days, and was garbed in a simple tunic. His weapons had been left in his quarters.
"Ser Edmure, you should have the maester look at your injuries." He commented upon entering and seeing Edmure.

"Hopefully the Maester is on his way." replied Edmure. "I've sent a servant to find him and bid him to attend this meeting. Dacey, Willis, Jormun, Hoster have also been invited."
His mouth twitched before breaking into a sardonic grin. "It will almost be a happy family reunion."

"You have my appologies that the circumstances are not better." Willem replied. "I erred in slaying the Piper man, and I will accept whatever punishment you and Lord Belric deem appropriate."

"I have no intention of punishing you." replied Edmure. "Yes, the death of the Piper knight jeopardised our mission, but in the end I doubt there would have been any other outcome other than the one we are currently faced with. Or war. And you are not out of the woods yet. Should we lose Piper will demand that whoever killed his knight to be turned over to him for justice. I imagine that will not be a pleasant experience."

"Likely not." Willem agreed. "I shall just have to pray we win."

"Indeed." said Edmure. "Pray you do not have to fight either." He winced as he lifted a cup of wine to his lips and a stab of pain lanced through his chest. He twirled the stem of the cup between his fingers and regarded Willem thoughtfully.
"After the incident in that cursed hut do you still believe my sister's story? Did I throw you in front of me in order to protect my own hide?"

"I'll fight if I'm well enough. Or there's no better option." Willem replied. "As for your lady sister's story, I'm not sure what to say. Perhaps she thought she saw something she did not? I have no wish to call her a liar, yet as you say, you certainly proved you are no coward."

"Yes, both Jormun and I seem to share that malady. Seeing things," said Dacey dryly, having caught the last few bits of their conversation as she entered the solar.
She looked remarkably better than the pair, despite her own injuries and having had to run the castle on her own for the past week or so. The dark circles under her eyes actually suited her. "Is it done, then?" she inquired, having noticed their condition when she'd walked in.

"We still have peace, if that is what you mean." replied Edmure testily, still unable to forgive his sister for her public slander of him. "The rest will be revealed when the others arrive."

Hoster grumbled at nothing in particular as he made his way into the meeting; he had made a little voyage to the cellar and managed to get himself a good ole bottle of brandy. Finally, he was back in his usual foul, non-depressed mood.
"Hah. Lookin' good da pair o' ye." Hoster chuckled sardonically as he spotted the condition of both Willem and Edmure, in his eyes, it suited them. "Ah can see it really is 'Beat Yer Own Fecking Blackfort (and random Bastard) Month', eh?!?"

Dacey was quiet for a moment, acknowledging Hoster, but ignoring his gibberish. She occupied a spot next to one of the windows, leaning a hand on its sill and briefly wondering how to break the news to her brother.
"Nyles is dead," she said finally, looking at Edmure. "He was killed by Targaryen loyalists. Jormun and I buried him five days ago."

Who da feck was Nyles? Hoster wanted to aske; the tone in Dacey's voice compelled him to stay silent. It was probably just some friend of the family.

Edmure had been regretting his decision to invite Hoster to the meeting almost instantly the moment his uncle opened his mouth. He was about to tell Hoster to be quiet when Dacey broke the news to him about their brother's death. He went cold, scarcely able to believe it, staring in front of him in shock.
"Nyles!" he finally breathed. "By the Gods! How does the King's squire meet his death at the hands of Targaryen loyalists? I knew Kings Landing was a cesspool but surely the King could have kept his own squire safe?"
