Jormun raises an eyebrow to Dacey as she leaves, indicating that he'll ask her later about what he missed. He continues into the room and takes a seat, looking between Willem and Edmure. "I would fight on behalf of our family, and I am uninjured. My ability with the spear cannot be disputed, and as Master of the Hunt, my position at Harrenhal is one of importance but not necessity, making me a champion of worthwhile status as well."

Edmure raised an eyebrow at Dacey's little temper-tantrum as she stalked out, but wasn't surprised at his sister's lack of good grace at his refusal. Still he wasn't in any sort of mood to grant her any leeway after her earlier public accusations against him.
He thought for a moment about Jormun's offer.
"You make a good point." he said finally. "My sister doesn't see it that way, but I could not in good conscience allow her to fight a knight in plate at close quarters while she wears little more than leather as protection. In the circumstances, use of her bow against their champion isn't really an option either. That's not the case for you though."

Willem resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Dacey's petulance. Instead of doing so he sat in silence listening to Jormun present his case.

"Dacey is a terrifying force on the battleground, and in general. She saved my life already, but I do not believe she is meant to fight knights at close quarters. I wear chain, however, and that alongside my spear gives me the easy advantage of reach and mobility over almost any knight. They are like bears- you poke and prod until they run into your trap."

"Out of curiosity," Willis piped up from the back, "What happens when Jormun shows up to fight someone, and they say, 'piss off, this is our fuckin' town.'? I'm all for knightly honor, but it's a fool's errand to trust that another knight is, as well. We all realize that, odds are, Armistead's Crossing is entirely lost to us without a proper battle, yes? There were no witnesses to the agreement of fightin' one on one over it besides us and them. Ought to make some plans for when we need to take it back by force of more than one man's arms."

Edmure nodded his agreement with Jormun's words about his suitability over Dacey's.
"Whoever our champion is, won't be going alone." replied Edmure to Willis. "Smallwood and Piper showed their intentions when they turned up with over three score knights to a parley. They set the tone...so this time we shall meet them with similar or greater strength. I will be taking what knights and other men we have at our disposal to the duel."
He turned to Willem. "What say you Willem? Should I choose Jormun instead? Given your injuries, he makes a compelling case."

"Smallwood's champion will be a knight." Willem said simply. "I am a knight. If healthy, I believe I would be the choice that makes more sense. However should you chose Jormun, I do not doubt he is a capable fighter and you will hear no objections from me."

"Your health is the question." replied Edmure. He fell silent for a moment, as if wrestling with his decision.
"Both of you make compelling cases." he said finally. "And no matter which one of you was to fight, I would feel confident in both of you prevailing. For that reason, you both will prepare yourself as if you were participating in the fight. If Willem is fully recovered by the time of the duel, he shall be our champion in this matter. If not, Jormun will take his place. Both of you will accompany me to Armistead's Crossing for the duel."
He looked across at Jormun. "Do not feel slighted Jormun. I do not doubt your valor or your ability. However given the circumstances of this particular affair, there is a pressing reason for Willem to fight, if he is at all able to do so."

Willem nodded. "So be it. I shall make the necessary preparations."

"You will not be going alone, Willem and this time we will not be caught short again. While we will not go as far as calling our banners, we will be taking a more sizeble force this time. Eighty knights from Harrenhal's lands and thirty guardsmen will accompany myself, yourself, Willis, and Jormun. We will in turn be supported further by Lord Vance's own forces."

"You may bring as many men as you see fit, but it will not change that the fate of the village will be decided on that bridge should Jormun or I lose." Willem replied. "Lord Smallwood and Lord Piper will not forget the agreement should their champion win."

"I'm concerned about their memory of the agreement should you or Jormun win." said Edmure. "Bringing extra men along hopefully should ensure that they honor the result, if it falls in our favor."

"That is the beauty of honor, isn't it? You can wear it like a brilliant white cloak, but as soon as you decide it does not suit you, it is left in the mud." Jormun chuckles to himself, leaving Edmure's comment about being slighted unresponded to. He knew why they both could be chosen, and would not care either way. "We will see what kind of men these really are."

"Indeed, brother." he replied with a wry smile. "Let's make sure they keep their cloaks on."
He stood, grimacing slightly. "We will leave at the appointed time, ride to Atranta and then to the Crossing to arrive at the agreed time. Willis will act as my second in command. Jormun will act as the commander of our scouts."

"As you say." Willem accepted the position, not bothering to thank Edmure. "Now, say they kill Willem," He held his hands up toward the other knight, "Meaning no offense, but the possibility exists. We going to contest the result? They would, no doubt."
